teh week{end}

I have been ♥-ing on the weekends lately.
You know what else I have been loving on?
Letting my hair go all natch-errr-AL.
I read in Glamour this week, to just "embrace your waves" if you have them.
So I have been letting my hair air dry...
Then when it is dry I add a tiny bit of mousse on the under side...
And then I sleep on it.
Then I get this in the morning:
So I have been stylin' this hair do all weekend.
Ted thinks it is babalicious....
(Your mom is babalicious.)

Anywho...on Saturday morning The Tedward and I spent a few hours cleaning "The Nest"...
We even busted out our cute name-towels :)
Ted made fun of the brown towels....
Here is a direct quote from The Tedward:
"Are those brown towels just to wipe your butt dry with?"
ME: *facepalm!*

After all of our hard work, we decided to scurry on down to Paradise Bakery for lunchy lunch.
I had been given a gift card for Administrative Assistant Appreciation Day of Awesomeness...
So we planned on using that to pay for the deliciousness.
Well, we got up to the cash register and their card machine wasn't working...
So they told us that the meal was on them!
How freakin bomb dot com is that?!
Love them long time.

Speaking of food...
You remember how last Sunday I made something awesome for us to eat after church?
Well, this week I made us "BATS" as opposed to "BLTS".
You see...we ate BACON.AVOCADO.TOMATO.SANDWICHES...on whole wheat pita bread.
Yeeeeeah Man :)
Yep. I think Ted only married me for my cooking skillz.
And my ghetto booty.
And maybe my money charm.

Look how cute Fabric Hootie looks on our laundry room door!
Too bad The Tedward slammed the door so hard that he "flew" off...
And his eyes fell out.
True Story.
Sad times...we didn't even have any milk to put the eyes in.
Remember that story? Go here.

I was feeling pretty creative this weekend, so I busted out some vintage frames I have been accumulating for quite some time.
I think I spent a total of 4 dollars on the whole lot of them.
Yeah. I am cool. THE END.
Anywho...I sanded them while watching "Seven Pounds" with Ted.
Then we cried because it was so freakin' sad.
Don't see it.
Watch High School Musical 3 instead.
Hi, Zac Efron.

Then I spray painted them funk-a-licious colors....
Because I am cool. THE END.
Anyway...I need some cut glass so I can frame this vintage sheet music, inside :)
Holla! at my sausage toes...

This is my favy-fav frame.
Isn't it darling?
I can't wait to show you what will go inside....

On to another project...
So, I was pretty bored with this side of our entertainment center.
It was pretty lamespice.
So I had some inspiration....

And created this :)
I am in love with it.
I love the funky-freshly-painted frame in the back.
It ties everything together nicely.
I love the yellowed flowers...they have a charming feel.

I just added some flowers to the plant I already had...
It's all about reuse people.
NEVER throw something out!
Try to think of how you can adapt it to your style...
It's amazing the things you can think up...
Oh...by the way....I ♥ the feathers in the arrangement :)

Look at these darling metal birds my mom bought me for Easter...
Mom, they have a perfect new home at the bottom on the floral arrangement :)

.THE END.

and i'm glad to know seven pounds is no good...i was curious, since it was will smith, but i'm not one for scary or sad movies. zac efron it is...i was drooling at the theatre when i saw 17 again....he truly is amazing. to look at!

I was surprised & happy to see a new post from you! YaY! love LOVE love your cutified frames & lovely natural waves of effortlessness! Um, and I miss Paradise Bakery... and all of Arizona :( The end.

Kaylen said...

so talk to me... i also need to EMBRACE my waves, but it never works. so you air dry, mouse, then sleep and it turns out magnificent?? that's it?

Lauren said...

Kaylen - Well...I wouldn't say my hair is magnificent...but YOU are magnificent :) Love you.

Anywhoizzle...just put a little mousse on it and sleep on it. If their are straight pieces when you wake up...curl it barely with a curling iron but not the ends! just the roots...to give it body.

Lauren said...

Lindser-Lou - Srsly...he is sooooo nice to look at.

Lauren said...

Shayla - Come hang out with me. Please?

I wish my hair looked that good after I slept on it. Meh-maybe I need to try it your way and see what it gives me. My hair just kinda looks...grungy LOL :P

You didn't like Seven Pounds?? I loved it. So sad...but I thought it was a great movie! :)

Loving your decor, as usual :) I'm throwing myself into scrapbooking....some day I'll have a crazy cute home, too :D

LOVE the new frames! :)

Oh my your ipod player is singing Champagne Supernova to me...

So lovely! :)

Sara said...

I am jealous of your hair because mine is stick straight and won't curl or wave at all. When I wake up, it's stick straight, just sticking up in the air instead of laying down. Boo.

Your frames look great! I'm not allowed to spray paint frames anymore because last time I accidentally spray-painted the yard and Hubs was so angry! He did not like the purple lawn. I thought it looked pretty awesome, but what do I know.

Love the birds. :-)

Lauren, I woke up to a very sad day due to one of my best friends moving away and another friend's mother passing away last night. Your blog post cheered me up on this dreary Mun-day.

I love the birds and the blue frame is my fave.

Wow Lauren! You definitely chose the right major in school . . . you're just a "desinin' foo'" . . . :)
The way you reuse things and pick up things at garage sales and make them GORGEOUS is just an inspiration to me . . . thank goodness garage sale season is coming up here . . . I've got the itch to make something FABULOUS! :)

4. The frames are absolutly adorable!
5. Love the flower topiary thing with the birds. I so want one for my house! Especially the birds. I am so into birds right now and don't know why.

So, I'm kind of this random stalker (not really though, I found Lauren's Bite through the twilight lexicon, and then found this blog through there), and I wanted to tell you that I'm pretty much in love with all your pillows, picture frames, and other designs you post on here. :)

Also, "matriculate" doesn't mean collect, it means graduate (or enroll/register). Movie Edward says it in reference to the graduation caps on the wall.

Thanks for all the awesome design ideas!

ashley said...

I'm lovin the hair! SO cute! I definitely need to try it. And so are all the frames you made!

Jenna said...

SO in love with the frames idea!

I have about eight bazillion cool postcards that I have collected over the years, and was trying to think of an awesome way to display them in our house this fall--when I finally get to move in!--and this is just a perfect idea!

I can't wait to scrounge garage sales when they start around here (Michiganders are notoriously behind in this area due to freaky weather)

Lauren said...

Sausage toes.. and BATS?!
Oh, gotta love your blog, and your hair and those frames!

Lauren said...

OH! and gotta love Zac Efron :)

I am trying to embrace my waves but I am dying to know what kind of mouse you use.Inquiring minds want to know...

I love your hair when it dries naturally. I have to give up on straightening mine any season other than winter, the humidity will make it curl right back up, so I don't fight it. And why are you so cute when it comes to home decor? I love the revamped plant/frame combo

Lauren. You're so creative and I jealous of your mad skillz. When I move out into my new place in june I think you should decorate everything! Ha! No seriously.

You're hair looks super cute wavy, I vote you do it more often. Kthanksbye.

omar said...

Top two reasons why I try to be a good blog-friend to Lauren:

1) If we already get along, it'll make it easier when Kris and Nancy adopt me.

2) Should we ever meet in person, you'll be more likely to make tasty food for me if I'm nice.

Marianne said...

I need to embrace my wave...but not with my hair cut in an A-line...it growing, OK?

Love, love , love the frames and where'd you get those cute little silver birdies???

Jill said...

Blah, I had to let my hair air dry last night too because it was so late. It takes almost an hour and a half process to straighten all my hair with the straightner.
But I do it because I cannot stand my hair curly.

Last night, I had no choice. But no matter what...I have to blow dry and straighten my bangs. My bangs CANNOT stay curly. EW EW EWWW. LOL

It's funny how we really don't care for our curly hair so we make it straight, while others love how it looks curly and wishes they had it.

Love your decorating ideas Lauren.

I have this one area in my new house, that I'm taking suggestions on, on what to put there. I would love to hear your ideas! :)

The cutest use of old frames, metal birds, and big silk flowers ever!

Katie said...

I am endlessly jealous of your craftyness. You see, I almost never have creative inspirations. Wait, that's not true. I do, I have the inspirtations all the time, but when I sit down to do something crafty it turns out looking like a five year old's art project. Yikes.

Also, I read that article in Glamour too and I was jealous that I have boring natural hair. It's straight, but if I air dry it it just gets kind of rough and thick. Lame-o. Meanwhile, I am glad you're wearing your hair naturally because I have always been TOTALLY jealous of your natural hair--it's gorgeous! Why would you wear it any other way? (This reminds me of my friends abroad...they all had naturally curly or wavy hair and I would be so jealous of it and they would be jealous of my straight hair. Straight is boring)

<3 Happy Monday!

Meredith said...

oh your hair is soo stinkin cute...I wish my hair would do that...years of flat ironing it have scared away any nice curls. Also those frames are awesome! OH and the owl...I'm sort of obsessed with them. SO if you could PLEASE tell me how you did that I'd greatly appreciate it :o) And I'm moving to a new apartment soon and I'm going to need you to come to georgia and decorate for me :) jk but you're SOO creative!

It's kinda funny how Zac Efron always plays a teenager in his movies, but he is really, like, twenty-somethin. But he is hot. So I forgive him. And by the way Lauren I LOVE it when you take pictures of your ah-dorable house because it is full of awesomeness and wonderments and it gives me inspiration! Home Skillet!

My hair is like yours- all wavyness, except i think its a wee bit thicker. i currently have it in a posh bob thing, and have for like a year and i straighten it every day... but i am missing my long wavy locks BIG TIMEEEE. So I'm in the process of growing my hair out and wearing it wavy to try and repair all the straightening damage!!! EMBRACE YOUR WAVES.... EMBRACE YOUR CURVES....HELLA!

Anywhoo, Here's a great product if you wanna splurge- Aveda Be Curly. Its like $18 but you only use about the size of a dime or less, so it lasts a while. IT puts the wave/curl in without the crunchiness that mousse or gel give, and it looks oh so natural and soft. LOVES IT!

thereadingmother0708 said...

Cute hair! I have wavy hair too but it gets frizy pretty easily, :( I recently started using the Fructis Wonder Waves shampoo and conditioner and it seems to make a huge difference! I'm trying to wean my addiction to the flat iron, and the fructis has totally helped. Oh and your BATS look delish!

K'Brina said...

1st of all... Love the hair. I have been doing the same thing, but not because glamour says, because I am lazy, and my bathroom was out of commission for a bit, and I am in desperate need of a hair cut, and did I say that I am just too busy to straighten hair right now???
2nd of all I love the picture frames.
3rd of all I am going to try that BATS. I have a new love of avocados.
Your just too cute!!

I also covet your hooties. And by hooties, I mean all them owls you've been making. Remember how I have this fetish for pink owls? Is all I'm sayin'.

p.s. Those silver birds need to be mine. I have cream-colored ones in my sunroom. Tell yours to fly here and they can be friends. While you and I are being friends. The end.
