what's lauren happy about?

1. This awesome yellow belt.
I scored it at Goodwill a few weeks ago for 50 cents.
It pretty much looks stellar with everything.
Loooooove it.

2. These cute drink labels I made.
I planned a Twilight themed dating lesson for mutual one night.
It was pretty fun.
Don't worry...there was a straight up Edward Cullen poster taped up.
Edward in the church = awesome.
{You can find the template here!}

3. Ted forgot how to use utensils, so Pocket Edward helped him.
I think the waiters at The Cheesecake Factory were jealous...
You know, since Ted and Edward were having "a moment".
Presh.

4. "Spot" was on Star Trek!
Umm...hi. I am in love with Spot from Newsies.
I think I love him more in the Star Trek get-up.
Am I right, or am I right?

5. The Tedward and I went to Payson on Memorial Day.
And it was quite memorable.
How cute.
But seriously.
We went on a walk...and discovered this lake-thing.
(BTW...I made that headband :) )

Check out the sleeping ducks right behind us. So cute!

6. Handmade headbands, by me!
I spent a Saturday morning, a few weeks ago, sewing headbands.
Pretty much have a butt-load by now.
I think this is my favy fav one.

7. Pocket Edward's eyebrows getting "touched up"...
BFF Lindsay noticed a little "rub-off" on his wee eyebrows.
Luckily she had a furniture touch up pen haha.
He looks so fresh, and nice.
"fresh"....Sick. haha!

8. Crafting with two of my favorite girls.

We made some headbands for baby Navy.
She is pretty much blingin' it up with her cute flower headbands.

9. Finding this crap at Goodwill for a total of 9 bones!
First off, I was embarrassed to buy the "footprints" poem thingy. Umm...hi. Soooo cheese-ball.
Secondly, someone totally gave away their child's silhouette to Goodwill. So sad.
"Welp.....Big Gulps huh? See ya later!"

10. I went a little spray paint crazy and repainted a ton of crap.
I looooooove this formally white candle stick, as a rosy pink.
Soooo cute.

11. Ted bought me this beauty at a boutique in Payson.

Totally overpriced.
And I had buyer's remorse.
But I quickly got over that!
Check it...

12. Some newly painted stuff...
The red column thingy, was sicknast when I bought it at Goodwill.
But after painting it red, it looked super NOT sicknast.
Then...that blue blingy thing was found at a thrift store in Payson for dirt cheap.
It was originally white, but I thought the aqua "Lar-ified" it.

13. All of these frames are from the thrift store
And I spray painted them (obviously)
And I made an arrangement in the bathroom.
Pretty much my favorite part of my home, now.

14. I was sick of the gold color on this mirror.
So I Lar-ified it as well.
I am in love.

15. My favorite thing I made on Saturday...
I bought a ton of high quality silk flowers (because I am a silk flower snob)
And some white feathers.
And a blingin' candle holder.
And voila! A summer flower arrangement!

the end.

I'm always happily amazed at the way your transform all these cool junky things you find into beautiful pieces I'd totally buy. It makes we want to scour Goodwill for fun things to transform myself. If only I knew what I was doing.

Dude you have SOO got to teach me the ways of crafting and such. I wanna be able to do that kind of stuff but have NO idea how to do it (we won't even discuss my fashion not-sense hahahaha) But srsly, you should have like a class or something, just sayin ;)

Everything looks GREAT! I love these kinds of crafts. You reminded me of when I went to the DI (cause DI dominates any thrift store in Idaho) and bought about 4 pieces of framed art. You know...the usual craptastic paintings of horses running through a meadow...an indian...some flowers...anyway. Once I got to the checkout, the special nice lady said, "Oh these are just beautiful- great finds. I'm sure they will look great in your home" I hesitated...and said..."Sure!" Needless to say...trashed the treasures when I got home. The frames were great though!

LeLe said...

Question: what did you use to make the drink labels? I heart them.

Fact: My parents had a huge Footprints clock in their living room when I was growing up. Haha.

Question: Did you use any kind of special spray paint?

That is all.

Jadeth said...

I do not have those kinds of skills! Those frames are so cute! Love the headbands and the touching up of Edwards face. Pretty funny

I'm so excited pocket Edward is back!
And I so want those drink labels.

I think I would pay to tour your apartment like a museum because it has got to be the most stylish place ever. I love that you do it all yourself, though, and it definitely has a Lauren quality.

Also, could I pay you to make me headbands?! They are all seriously fantastic. Now my single headband with a little bow seems so pithy and when I go out all lame-o headbands are ruined for me because I can't help but think "But Lauren could make this and make it better".

I can see why you're happy Lauren, this was a great post. <3

Laura Trevey said...

Love the drink labels! and visiting your blog :)

so glad I found you !!

MeL said...

I love and kind of want that brown headband for myself, but am fairly certain that if I had it I would never wear it because I can't pull anything hair-wise off. Waah.

Um, so our Bunco group just got smaller and we need recruits...you interested? Also, there is a condo by us that is renting for dirt cheap. And my friend is moving and they're renting out their condo which might not be as cheap but it is nicer. And you should live by me. ASAP. Please.

My goodness!!! You are soo incredibly creative! I'm soo hatin' right now in San Diego!!! BUT - on the plus side, you've given me inspiration to make changes in my OWN home...and I am embarking on refinishing and painting my dining room set. I will post before and after pics...you'll completely understand why I HAD to do it!! Thanks Lauren!!!

Hostess Blog has really similar drink labels to the ones you made. Probably inappropriate for a church function, but I LOVE the "Type A" "Type B" and "Type O" labels. haha. And they suggest putting them around red sodas. haha. Here's the linky: http://www.hostessblog.com/2009/03/hey-twilight-lovers-drink-up-printable-vampire-bottle-labels/

Anyways, soooo jealous of your craftiness. I might have to take a page from your book and hit up the good will and see what I can find!

Spot Conlon!!! I loooooved him in Newsies and all other things. I can't believe you know who he is!!! When Newsies first came out in the theater, I would clean rooms at my house (I was 13 and had no income) for money to buy tickets to see the movie. Saw it 4 times in the theater!

Lauren, you have such great style! I love everything you make. I've also seen stuff at the DI that makes me sad that someone got rid of it...like personal pictures or special things with the person's name engraved on them.

Are you running out of space yet? ;)

Would you mind posting or poppin' on over to my neck of the woods to send link or whatev. If its top-secret, I gets it ;) I just feel like mine might be a WEE bit ghetto-fied.

Hi Lauren! This is my first post but I've been following both of your blogs for awhile. Can I just say you are hilarious and clever and all kinds of cool? Because you are....

Anyway...you finally lured me out of lurker status because I can't believe that someone else had a major jones for Spot Conlon. I had a crush on that kid for a long time. One of the best reasons to watch Newsies!

Anyway, I'll try not to be a stranger anymore. Keep up the greatness! :)

I love it! Just call us Martha! I just spray painted a bunch o' stuff also and it's so amazing how it makes such a difference. It's like a whole new decoration after a quick new layer of paint. Awesome! I love all of your bright colors too. I teach Kindergarten and my classroom is decorated with those colors. I loves it! Also, I must know where you got your black and white curtains. I am redoing my kitchen right now and I have been looking all over for tableclothes or curtains that are that pattern. Okay, I better stop this is getting a bit long...peace out lady!

It was so weird seeing my son's name all through your post!! We totally had NO idea it was a city when we named him that, we totally thought we made it up. Then we heard about Payson Utah, and it wasn't until a month ago that I learned there was a much bigger Payson in AZ. Craziness.

You make my decorated house look like the inside of Oscar the Grouch's garbage can.

So this is my first time posting here, but I posted once before on your super fantasgreat Twilight blog :) Anywhoo, I felt compelled to comment today because: 1. I totally love your style and your craftiness! I wish I had that level of creativity. But alas, I feel like my idea of doing something new to a frame to make it my own would be to freak out in a moment of non-creative-panic and smack it with a hammer... "Look! It's got a dent now! I changed it, so that means it's different... and inventive! Right? No?? Crap." *Throws frame in trash and pouts* And reason 2. for me feeling compelled to comment here was that I nearly clapped my hands in giddiness over your Big Gulps Dumb and Dumber reference! Not only is that one of my favorite movies of all time, but I once recorded the audio from that Big Gulps scene on my phone and made it my text message alert. Meaning everytime I got a text message, I got to hear Jim Carrey say "Hey guys, Big Gulps, huh? Alright! Wellp.. see ya later!" Got me weird looks in stores. True story. Sometimes I write too much in a box that originally meant for a comment, and not for an essay on my thoughts of Lauren's blog for the day, and one of those times is right now... *blushes and runs away*
