i'm happy about...
1. That so many humans participated in Busy Bee Lauren's FIRST debate!
So here are my thoughts on leggings at church...
I have only worn them once. I wore them with a long, modest dress. They just added a bit of contrast to the ensemble....and they really tied in the shoes I was wearing. Also, a big part of the reason I wore them, was because it is super cold in our church building, and...hi, I hadn't shaved in foreverz, so goosebumps would have revealed the "secret garden" on my legs.
So all in all...I could care less if people wear them or not.
If you are coming to church, you rule.
People that judge others by giving the stink eye are lamespice.
(here is the outfit)

2. The sweet deal I got at Goodfreakinwill.
Dude. So many weird people shop at Goodwill. I think I am going to start going EVERY Saturday just to hear the crazy stuff people say. Oh wait...I do go every Saturday. And I am weird. Sa-weet. I hope people are blogging about the crazy blond girl who shops at Goodwill.
Anywho-izzle....I found this cute top for fiddy-cents. Don't hate. Just love it with me.
PS...the fedora rocks. I had 3 MEN and one woman tell me so, yesterday. I got warm fuzzies inside my heart. Almost made me want to do a jig in the middle of the HobLob. {Hobby Lobby}

3. I finally hung my Chinese lanterns and poof-balls.
I bought these sweet chinese lanterns at Target a few weeks back...but I didn't want to hang them alone. I needed a bit of color. So I made me some Martha Stewart Poof Balls...I'm pretty sure they are called that. Anyway...I am in love.

4. I had another photo shoot, and they pictures turned out so amazing...
I literally gasped when I edited this one. This picture is so stunning. I can't wait to finish the rest. They were so so so cute and fun to work with. Loved it!

5. This sicknast, hideous piece of putrescence that I found at Goodwill, for a bone.
OK, so I saw this ugly thing hiding behind a bunch of other stinky crap, and I had a design intervention. Now, I get these design interventions alot...but this one came on strong. My spidey sense tingled, and the sky opened up and I swear I heard a few charobs singing "prrrrrrraise GOODWILL!...oh...and COSTA VIDA TOOOO!". So I picked it up and took it to the cash register. And in line I heard some people go, "I canNOT believe she is buying that." Well the laughs on them, because I knew why I was buying it......

Yay for poof-balls of happiness and a great photo shoot! :)
The cameo is quite ethereal. :)
Aw, nuts, I missed the debate. For what it's worth, I think the ensemble was very cute. And I don't think it was improper for church at all.
I love-love-love cameos. I have a few on necklaces that I own. It was distinctive before, but your mom is right, it's ethereal now. No wonder the cherubs were singing. :)
P.S.) I want a fedora!!! I can't wear hats, though. My head is freakishly small and I just look stoopid. The end.
i love those poof balls. :) Maybe I can make some for Mont's room. awww he can have a mobile of poofs. ha ha
Awesome design intervention on that 'hideous piece of putrescence!' And I can't wait to see the rest of those photos. you are quite the ambitious girl, Lar the STAR!
I'm pretty sure I heard singing when I saw your goodwill make over. Very nice!
Um, hi I ♥ it ALL.
Even the tan arm of your friend in pict. #4.
#5 Hands down best Before/After transformation. EVER.
The leggings/dress/ballet flats combo? Hot.
I think they were giving you The Eye because they were jealous of your superior dressing skills.
That top is adorable!
I'm very jealous.
And while I could never rock a hat, you do.
I do berets.
Those poof-balls are AWESOME!
That is a seriously gorgeous shade of blue.
That is a very cute photo.
I love photographing :)
And your ugly thing turned out gorgeous! Well done you :)
And now I have to go because I am supposed to be cooking dinner :P
xoxox
DUDE, we so rocked Goodwill this weekend! My hubby has to wear "nice" clothes to work now that he works in corporate america. So we happend to go on 50% day!! He got 7 shirts and 5 pairs of pants for 50 bucks. I also found this sweet chair that is kind of amazing.
I love your art work. Goodwill is all about seeing potential and being creative.YAY!
Love that you rocked the leggings to church, you are an inspiration to us all.
BTW, I love the lanterns. I have those in green and white, my favs.
your dress and leggings were sooo appropriate and cute and it was like so little legging showing...you looked lovely so don't let it worry you anymore!!
i looove charity shops you can find the coolest things in there and luuuuuuve the lanterns too!
Amen to #1!
And I LURV the cameo! It's gorge and I mean it. I have a love for cameos...
That is easily my favorite project you've ever done. I was showing it to everyone on Saturday..."Look at what my friend is making--look, look!"
Brilliant.
Ballard Designs (oh, how I LOVE that catalogue!) would charge $139 for this. So you win. Big time.
p.s. Like your poofs, too. I also like that I have these pics saved on my phone. So whenever I'm feeling blue, I just scroll through my photo album and say, "Hey...there's Lauren's poof balls...there's Ted's 'impasta!'...there's Zac in Us Weekly with Rob and Pine-Sol!"
We rule.
I heart you Lauren...
Can you come to Tex-Ass to do a photo shoot for me :)
ok, i seriously hate our goodwill. it never has as good of stuff as you find! ours is suuuuper ghetto. but i LOVE what you did with that... thing. haha. & i love the poof balls. i have some japanese lanterns that i need to hang , maybe i should make some poof balls to add flair!
seriously. i need a design intervention.
and you need to help
pronto
$.50 shirt?
yes please.
um your exposed calves made me stumble in my walk..kthxbai
Love the pic redo!
You are just amazing. That's all I can say.
I LOVE your outfit, the hairy eyeballers were just jealous of your outfit and wished they had been so brilliant as to be warm with your leggings. For serious. I would have been jealous of it because I am always freezing to death in the chapel.
I also love your project. Someday I will be so creative.
I also want a pair of those silver shoes. My silver shoes died. :(
My sister can rock any hat. I can not...sad. I love your creative inspirations.
I think your outfit for church is way cute!
Did you know that I am not a Martha fan? 'Tis true. Howeverz I am definitely a Lauren fan and so I will call those amazing poof balls Lauren Poof Balls. Very cool.
I'm with Tori- I don't shop goodwill, but if you will shop with me and help me get those great design interventions I may one day have a house that is decorated. Yep. My house is not decorated. I'm lame and don't know how. Sad isn't it.
I agree that the leggings are fabulous (say that like Sharpay) with your dress. I may have to start wearing tights in the summer if I don't start shaving :P
Loves you.
you are a great shopper! I love what you did with that lady frame thing it looks amazing!
1) enjoyed the debate
2) 50 cents? what a deal!
3) I love them, they are super cute.
5) Lauren! That is seriously awesome. I bow down to the queen of craftiness.
I made those poofballs for a bridal shower in pink, orange and yellow, and they are a huge hit!
I missed the debate due to garden crap. But I agree, if you are coming to church than you are awesome. The END!
And holy crap your design intervention is amazing. It looks way cool!
Glad you had a happy weekend :)
I want to go to your goodwill. ours never has anything fun. Perhaps I need to think more like Lauren when looking for awesome deals!
Sounds like good will is the place to be! Good thing too cause I'm like super poor...haha
love all of it.
Sometimes I wonder if we should halt blogging about goodwill and thrifting because there may be less treasures to be had if even more people catch on:-)
Let's get a professional thrift brigade together and go have a party. Really I am new best friends with anybody who wants to go. Goodwill is awesome and so is 50% of Saturdays. Perhaps we will run in to each other next time.
Great job on your painting project!
fun projects!
such a cute top, I'm jealous.
Love the leggings with the dress! You fashonista you, pulling off fedora hats vintage belts and 50 cent tops...You make the rest of us look bad.
I have to agree that good will has some treasures if you have the vision to transform them...although I wouldn't have seen that framed Cameo as diamond in the rough... how wrong I would have been. It is amazing! You've got the vision!
You should start a good will transformation boutique... I'd shop it!
I absolutely LOVE the cameo! Snaps for you! It is gorgeous! People with vision can create wonder out of junk! I am learning to have vision...
Does Martha have instructions for the Poof balls? I love that idea.
If you ever want a bunch of paper lanterns for cheap go here: http://paperlanternstore.com/
They have everything!
is it just me or does it seem like your house is HUGE?! lol you've got to have every single inch of that house decorated OR it's big. lol i wanna do fun things like that!!! where do you get all your paint??! sheesh.. seems like you got every color of the rainbow! PS how bout a tutorial on how to make poofballs!!!!!!! mkay? thanksbye
I wore leggings to church on Sunday...you'd be proud! I'm totally loving on your project!! It turned out great! I haven't even started on my projects yet! I need to get with it! Love your new shirt!!!
Love all your fun projects! I'm coveting your poof balls right now...I saw those at michaels...but I have absolutely no room!
1st I would just like to say that you look adorable in your leggings and church appropriate! This is something that I just may have to try!
2. Love that painting you hand did. LOVE IT!
I absolutely LOVE your ugly goodwill thingy turned into GORGEOUS goodwill thingy. well done!
I was shopping at a good will store the other day and I got a 3-tier cupcake platter thats gorgeous! I though of you!
I'm getting some pretty strong "Praise Lauren & her wicked style!" choruses in my head right now...in a completely non-sacriligeous way.
I really love what you did with the...what would you even call that thing before it was repainted? Velvet gold mess? Anyway, I love Cameos and it reminds me of one so I definitely approve. You should be proud of your re-do! And I will be honest with you. I probably would've been one of the people wondering at the fact that you were buying that in line (well, if I didn't know it was you). Only human.
I wish I had some life event to be photographed because I fear by the time I do, you'll be some famous Photog and I won't be able to afford you. Just my luck.
I have several things to do today and I think I may add "goodwill" to the list now.
Hope your week is starting off nicely! <3
Oops dumb comment ^^ I it IS a cameo so that would be why it reminded me of one. Silly me.
(I really hope my comment is still the one above)
i am jelous of ur style... its freakin cute!! i agree with the "if you go to church, good for you thing" because my mom wont let me wear leggings to church!!! but i do like ur decorating skills to!!!
I love your flats in your legging picture! Target?
umm ur eye for diamonds in the rough at goodwill has me in awe. great post as always <3
People that shop at thrift stores and garage sales..know how to shop!
Good job with your finds.. :)
can't live a day without reading your english-as-a-second language blog. no wonder your mom's so giddy. can't imagine a more fun daughter (except me when i was yr age!) dee-lightful b.b. lauren!
I DIED when I read "HobLob" because my mom, sister and I call it that, too!
I would sooo love to go shopping with you. You have an awesome eye, for style and decorating.
Love the poof balls, very cute. I like the way the goodwill restoration turned out.
P.S. I will definitely send you an invite for the bead party. Its going to be on July 15th, 7 to whenever. And the one I went to people were still showing up at ten. So hopefully you can make it.
Laters
Seriuosly I love your style!!!!
I spent saturday morning at St. Vincent De Paul and Goodwill....Seriously Goodwill is nutzo! I was in the line to check out for 40 minutes. Seriously I 40 minutes at GOODWILL! I am not even quite sure it was worth it....well it was...except my hair smelled like it all day. I had some serious fun spray painting all the stuff I bought though. I might have to do it more often.
Do you ever go to DI?
You found that top for 50 cents?!!! Why is it that whenever I go to Goodwill, I only see ugly, stinky crap? That is so dang cute!
I love your sense of humor. You heard the cherobs sing! You crack me up...EVERY TIME!
You find the most amazing stuff Lauren! I'm in awe by your decorating talents, LOVE the picture you did!
okay. you shop at goodwill. you are my hero. i've always wanted to shop at a thrift store but have never done so nor had someone who would go with me. but after reading this...i think i might just go. hmm....
and LOVE the chinese lanterns and Martha Stewart Poof Balls. And the curtains in the back.
the end.
The way you wore the leggings is fine for church! I'd question the picture you posted with the initial question, just because the dress/top is so short. For a girl in YW it is probably fine, but a G wearing married woman probably not?? You could pull of that look away from church and pull off the YOUR look at church. Hmmmmmm, I know the poll is closed, that is just what I think. I questioned it because of the picture you posted with the question, but think it's totally okay when you posted the actual picture! Totally fine and cute!!
hmmmmm maybe I should go to Goodwill... never been!
such a cute post!!
ummm, i want to know why your goodwill rocks, and why mine is lame-spice.
you inspired me to go a couple weeks ago. and i found nothing that amounts to your finds of greatness. plus, there are no awesome pieces of clothing to be found for less thatn $4.
so enjoy your goodwill!
Soooo 1st off if you see me at the goodywill!!! as I like to call it say hey because they always have some prizes and goodies that people don't expect and i love that your fashion designista senses are always finding such lovely things!!!!! when i buy a home i am calling up LAUREN for sure and oh my goodness loving the ensemble to cute for words so I have none and also the leggings I have seen the good way to wear them to church aka the way you just demonstrated to the blog community and the not so approved good way meaning the dress was barely at the bum! also the chinese lanterns are my favorite little nick nack ever for a friends wedding we strung them all over and had lanterns glistening it was amazing they are so to awwwww for
first of all, LOVE the poof-balls. Love.

Srsly. Like I've said before, you rock the Goodwill finds, girlfriend! kthxbye!
You always do such cute things--love it.
So happy to have found your blog.... so cute. You've gotta do a video blog though-I wanna hear you talk like you write. Love it!
Minnie
P.S. Goodwill rocks!
Yay for puff balls! I hung a few white ones from my vaulted ceilings for a baby shower and just kept them up because I liked them. Months later people are still asking, "what are those?"
I'm pretty sure my guests think they are ugly but I love them so I was excited to see someone else who likes them too :)
you have the most awesome fashion sense ever. where did you get the fedora?
and very creative! if i could i would totally hire you to decorate my house. thats all thx :)
So, I pretty much like this whole post.
I love your project! It looks so great!
Oh my! you could be the mostly talented bloggerer on the interweb lauren. i LOVE the top and the 'project'
you, my friend, are the awesomestness. that thing you got from Goodwill is now MAGNIFICENTO! you have uh-MAY-zin' renovation skillz :) and also, i love your Poof Balls hanging from the ceiling... uber classy. and the photo is beautiful... goodness. you should go pro. only then you'd charge a lot of money. and i'm still hoping you'll be my photographer in like, 10 years...or whenever i decide to get married. yah. so don't charge me too much, kay? also, you're cute. heh. <3
you got some GREAT stuff! your so creative!
Ok my mom is an AVID goodwill shopper. She knows all the good color days and goes at least 3 times a week! Pretty rad. However, she does not have your talent for finding these scarypieces and turning them into masterpieces! We totally need to combine forces. With her color-days-knowledge and your beautifying-scary-things talent, we could change the world!!! And find some cool stuff.
Um SUPER cute top.
I'm so jealous of your 50 cent steal! You've inspired me to thrift shop once again! My first job was DI and that was where my stuff came from, pretty much. BTW, can I add that Jillian from the bachelorette has a wardrobe that I would pretty much die for? Pretty much... I'm saying that a lot. :p
hiii my name is lauren, i am cute, and you are jealous. the end.
:-P
I love your favorite project! It turned out stunning!
LOVE IT ALL! And you're so right...who cares if you wear leggings to church! Atleast you showed up!!! P.S.---Can you pretty please blog about me on my makeup blog and get me some major followers...I am going to be having monthly giveaways of get this....MAC PRODUCTS!!!! I know you have some MAJOR pull! :)
I love the Chinese lanterns and puff balls!!!!! :)
1. The leggings look super cute with your outfit. And I see girls wearing leggings all the time at church and it's not a problem. (PS there's some people at my church that think denim is inappropriate. I will wear denim just so they will raise their nose at it because I have a twisted sense of humor)
2. That fedora DOES rock!
3. I LOVE the poof balls, my sister made some for a church activity. I never thought about combining them with Chinese lanterns. Very nice.
4. That's a really cool photo. I like how it's breaking some rules.
5. You turned that into a gorgeous usable piece. I'm very impressed.
Your soo damn creative...I'm jealous!
