a little vent.

i'm not gonna lie...i am having a hard time being back in school.
let me break it down for you:

FIRST DAY OF CLASS

the teacher asks...no...FORCES everyone to walk around the classroom and exchange numbers/email with 3 people. well, i get up and proceed to ask girls if they will exchange numbers and ALL of them either ignored me (yes...they didn't even acknowledge my presence) or they told me, "I already have my three numbers...go ask someone else." i'm not even kidding. So guess how many names and numbers I got....

are you guessing?....

I got one. And guess what....I made it up.

SECOND DAY OF CLASS

i walk into the classroom to find that another girl had taken the seat that i had sat in the first day. aint no thing...i will sit somewhere else. as i sat in the chair, the girls on either side of me gave me the stink eye. oh...you know "the eye." feeling awkward, i started to pull out my things. a few minutes pass, and in walks the woman i apparently took the seat of. she stands next to my chair and says, "i can't believe she took my seat! where am i going to sit now?" and then her friends start to talk about how they don't know why i thought i could sit next to them.

i said in a timid voice: "i can move if you'd like..."

and they said, "don't trouble yourself."

yes, they said that. i can't make this stuff up.

so spent the rest of the class listening to the girls go on and on saying, "i can't believe she sat by us..." or "who even is she?"...or "we better get to class early and save this spot so that girl doesn't sit in it"...or my favorite, "doesn't she have any of her own friends?"

no i don't. but thanks for reminding me.

ok...PHEW. got that off my chest.
carry on.

FIRST....NO WAY! Never thought that was gonna happen..

Aw, Lauren! That's so sad! It reminds me of the one design class I took. I was the outcast because I wasn't officially in the program like everyone else. If I were in your class, I'd be your friend, and we could exchange numbers.

Karalee said...

I hate going back to school! We are moving back to America in December and have to pick up where we left off and we are kinda of dreading it.

GOOD LUCK with the dramatic girls! :)

Just when you think your out of high school, stuff like this still happens!! I really don't get it at all. People will tell you this and you'll probably say ya ya, but it's true. Your so cute, they are so jealous and they want to look/be just like you! No lie. It just sucks that they have to treat someone like that just because of their insecurities!

Alisa said...

it's so sad that these girls are still stuck in high school, and don't know how fabulous you are. keep your head high, and forget those girls. someday, they'll look back and realize how nasty they were.

Bekah said...

all of those girls s-u-c-k

true story

Jenn said...

If I weren't in class in PA you could totally sit next to me. I'd give you my email and digits. I am so sorry that you had to put up with such juvenile cattiness. Girls can be so mean. :(

Evan said...

THIS is why the hubby is my bestest friend. THIS is why girls suck. THIS is why its really great when a wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime girlfriend comes along. I'm sorry. Just keep your head up and make all of your designs waaaay better than theirs!

The Gomes Family said...

Lauren, sorry girls are dirty and catty! That is why we always had more boys that were our friends. Keep your chin up. You are doing the right thing by going back.

Jenny said...

Aw thats so sad... The good ole days of College! Hope it gets better!

Lauren W said...

Ugh, they are lame. The end.

LeLe said...

I bet they wish they were cool enough to read your blog. But they aren't and don't. They suck. You are cool.

Rachel said...

Oh my lord, how old are those girls?! I would not be so nice to them, but that's just me. I would sit there everday just to piss them off haha.

robynxx said...

gosh, those girls take a long time to get over a seat. hope the rest of your days are better! :D

Mrs. Organic said...

Honey, they are just jealous. And also very rude (pity they didn't have a mom as awesome as yours to teach them manners).

Summer @ B is for Brown said...

this is freaking ridick. i am angry bc of this. makes me so mad. i don't get it at all. don't let them bully you. what aholes. grrrr. i am in shock at their behavior. how old are we?

Merkley Jiating said...

Are you serious?! Wow. I don't even know what to say. That is so messed up.

amy said...

Wow, where did you go back to school? High School??

That's craziness!

So sorry for you! Hope it gets better!

Alexandria said...

Okay so I know this site is "swear free" but I sooo...want to throw the 'B' word at those girls. But I won't. Because then I would be just like them.

Girls suck. We can all be a little mean, but really those girls need to realize highschool is O-V-E-R. Just because they signed up for classes with all their highschool buddies and they are too scared to go alone does not mean they get to act all 'Mean Girls'.

If you went to my college I would SO sit by you! And exchange my e-mail and number move to Cali and we have got ourselves a deal!

Go on and rock that class!!

Thoughts of Blue said...

that is terrible! don't worry, you aren't there for them anyway...

also, they don't know who you are?! insane. you are the busy bee. who doesn't know that!?!

hairyshoefairy said...

Seriously!? How old are they? 12? Rude!

Also, I'm sorry your SF bit of your trip sucked. I lived in the area for 3 years and really love the city. The architecture is amazing, there is some killer shopping (you should have hit the boutiques on Hayes street at Octavia), and you can't beat Ghirardelli chocolate. Yeah, parking is always a beast but you can always take BART which makes things easier or there's a ferry that's fun, too. Hopefully the next time you go it'll be a happier time.

Stu and Angie Milne said...

how incredibly HIGH SCHOOL. funny how a big part of college is getting to meet new people and making new friends.. guess they didn't get the memo. what campus are you at? maybe we could do lunch sometime!

Alisha said...

Really? Girls can be so dumb.
Things will get better as the year goes on. Those are the type of girls that generally don't do well in class because they are always talking.
You'll be great! Just keep your head up!

Paulina said...

whats with all the "girl" hate??!! I too have had infinite moments like this and I am very proud to say I have not passed it on to others....

I am over the girl hate, I mean, C'mon ladies!! We are more than able to be nice to each other!!

Hang in there!!!!

ps: they are jealous bc you are so dang gorgeous!!!!

derrickadee said...

Lauren we seriously need to talk!

We can compare horror stories about your first day and my first day of law school, and how boys made me cry all over again like I was in 2nd grade.

Then we can talk about how much cooler we are than everyone else. Duh.

Katie said...

I'm not a huge fan of my school, but at least people aren't THAT insane here! That is the rudest thing. This isn't High School, children. I'm really sorry you have to be stuck in that kind of environment. I'm glad you have a loving Tedward and family to go home to after that nonsense.

Sarah said...

Oh my, that's just terrible. Just kill them with kindness. Hopefully things will get better for you darlin!

Karen said...

Wow! Some people never leave high school, seriously, I know a couple. Keep your head high. :)

kelly anne said...

ah man i'm sorry lauren. girls suck. i hate it when stuff like that happens.
and i'm not going to lie. i hate it when teachers force us to get other people's numbers. i don't want their number. they don't want mine. why can't we just leave it at that?

Marie Antoinette said...

Are you serious?!?!?!?!? I'm in my fourth year of college and have never EVER seen that kind of behavior. Seriously are they 5? Apparently they stopped progressing in elementary school and are actually retarded. I'm so sorry :(

Nick & Kristin said...

wow, i can't believe some people have the nerve to be so rude. Rude people are only insecure about themselves and want others who are happy to feel bad. I wish everyone in the world was nice. It would make life so much easier. i guess that's not the point though right? an "easy" life. What would we learn?

Laura Sue said...

Jerks. Grow up girls, we are not in high school. College kids get to *gasp* SIT WHEREVER THE HECK THEY WANT TO. Get. Over. It.

You should just sit front center.

Elyse said...

I'm so sorry this happened to you Lauren. If I were in there with you I would have traded numbers, given you my email and saved you a seat...all with out complaining because you're that awesome. Don't let their negativity get you down and know that karma will come back to bite them.

OREGON SOUTHWORTHS said...

Wow, way to be transported back to, like, the 7th grade. Didn't they get the memo that all of that immature junk they got away with in high school is pretty lame when you try to pull it in college.
Good luck with the rest of the term/semester!

GardenofEdee said...

Wow that sucks. Going to the first day of class is always hard especially when it seems like everyone knows each other. Don't worry, it will hopefully get better, if not those girls aren't worth knowing anyways!

Keep your head held high =)

girls can be such boogers! don't even worry about their silly immature ways & just continue to be your awesome self!

Stacy Dean said...

Dude, Lauren, this is where you pull out the "who am I? I am the freaking coolest most popular girl in the blogdom. I have like....a ba-zillion friends and FYI, they all say you suck." Srsly. THAT would be awesome. It could make class a little awkward but I'm sure there is a Hannah Montana episode somewhere with the solution...Oh yea, you just have to hide your super cool alter ego (hannah montana/busybee lauren) and be nice and good even though they are evil. Sigh. Sorry girl. But in the words of Mufasa, " Remember who you are."

Tiffany said...

What a bunch of beotches! They were probably jealous of you. That's the main reason girls don't like each other. But just know that WE love you. *hugs*

P.S. If I went to school with you, I would totally go Alice on James on those skanks.

Emily said...

Hey, come on now. It was no big thing. They just knew you were to good for them, and when you sat by them they got all self-conscious and had to act out. Frankly I am surprised this is the first time this kind of thing has ever happened to you, I mean come on, you are Thee, Busy Freak'n Bee Lauren. So try not to hold their intimidation against them to much.

Well if I was in a class with you I would WANT you to come sit with me..or be in a group with you while being videotaped for YOUTUBE eck..but wait that already happened, Yay for TBIRDS!! Lauren girls are ridiculous, that's so highschool to be rude over a seat, are their names painted all over it?? I think not. They should get over themselves immediately.

Nancy said...

What a bunch of monkeys! Guess they haven't the high school thing out of their system. But don't worry you'll make friends soon! I would have exchanged numbers with you! =)

Rugergirl said...

Just feel sad for them, because all they have is that little group. You are so much better then them. Remember, treat people the way you want to be treated because you never know when you will need their help, or the other way around. You will always run into people that will be mean or rude or say hurtfull things, but they probably have a ton of problems at home. You may not see or hear about them, but they are there. Killem with kindness. What are they going to say...That Lauren girl is so happy all the time...LOL oh thats funny. Anyway. Keep your chin up! Remember..you might be THEIR boss some day *wink**wink*

Courtney said...

Yeah- that happened to me in Relief Society. OK, maybe not quite as dramatic, but still...

Sasha said...

That seriously breaks my heart :( i hate girls sometimes, how rude!!Im sorry that happened

Sara said...

Seriously? Did you wonder onto the set of "Mean Girls" or something? Need me to come bust some kneecaps for you? Just say the word.

Lauren said...

That is lame. Girls can be so petty.. how old are they anyway? I would have totally exchanged numbers with you AND even say by you in class!

Chris and Gina said...

Are you kidding me? That's not even high school...that's like...junior high, when people are at their mean peak.

I would let you sit by me. Sorry girls are jerks.

lilnelablack said...

I totally understand your situation. I'm an English major and even though I have had multiple classes with the same group of people and have done projects with them and know all of their names, I'm still the outcast. No big deal, I have a life outside of English class, but I have had many days EXACTLY like what you discribed.
Those girls just don't know what they are missing out on by not being your friend... too bad for them : )

Jessica said...

Females are mean.
We all know that.

But I'm pretty sure most of us out grow that type of behavior when we graduate high school. wow

Shayla said...

So sad I almost cried. You are so strong because I totally would have left that class in tears. Smother them with kindness {if they let you} and they'll feel awful for acting like that toward a sweet girl. My bestie acted like a total snob to me when we first met, true story, but I just killed her with sweetness and she came around.
You know, Keep Calm and Carry On :) {{hugs}}

Marci Darling said...

I honestly can1t believe that happened to you.

If you were in my class, I would be beyond excited, you don't even know. What's wrong with getting 4 phone numbers?! Geez, those ladies need to learn a little class. If only they knew who was in their class. Busy Bee Lauren!!!! Those girls need a clue, fo real.

(Hi, my name is Kat, and this is the first comment I have left on your blog)

Who do they think they are?? Maybe a group of Lauren fans should go to class with you and take all the seats!!!

Robinn said...

Awww Lauren! :o( I thought that stuff was supposed to be over after high school! Girls can be so mean to each other, can't they? Sounds like you're in a class full of Mean Girls. You're so much more than they are. Pity and pray for them, 'kay? It will help. And I will pray for you.

alpologirl said...

Ignore the haters. They are just jealous of your fabulousness and can only aspire to be like you. You who are fashion forward and trendy, you who have so much else going for you, you who care about other people's opinions, you who are so talented in your photography and humourous on your blogs, should be secure enough in your own self to realize these *children* matter not. Have faith in yourself, Lauren, and care not what these girls think.

Lauren said...

Um.. hi. Are we in middle school?
Nope.. just checking.
Stooopid girls. You are the coolest.

It ain't no thang, you don't want to be friends with people like that anyways...they will do nothing but bring you down.

x, ash

Erica said...

Wow... that sounds like High School. How old are we now? I can't believe people still pull that type of stuff. I'm sorry they were all such epic poop heads but just remember that you do have all of us as friends! I know, not the same as having friends in classes, but it's something!

<3

I always sat at corner seats... either in the front row or the back at the very corner. That way I always got to avoid the majority of 'friend' issues and didn't feel so bad for not having a friend in class. Usually the door or the windows ended up being my friends. lol

Loys said...

I can't believe those girls acted that way! That is so mean!
I would have exchanged my number/email with yours, just so you know.

Jen said...

Lauren, you poor thing. You know there are plenty of us out there who love you!

Alexa Mae said...

For realz? That upsets my brunette self...a lot. Bring me to class with you, they'll be nice to you after that. I have a way with scaring off bratty girls!! ;)

Natalie said...

LAMESPICE!

Here are the surficial why I would exchange numbers/email with Lauren:

1) She has a much better sense of style than me, and I would hope that she would inspire me to be fashionably daring.

2) Cutest. Smile. Ever. I like happy people.

3) She has graduated from high school, which these girls obviously have not. I like people who leave clique-y high schoolness in high school.

And then, after we became BFFs, and I learned how talented and creative and funny and charming and truthful and just plain good she is, I would think, "Hi. I'm glad I exchanged numbers/emails with that girl Lauren."

P.S. Stalker comment? Possibly. Genuinely irritated that these girls are lame? Probably. Happy for you that you have 93 Happy Comments? Absolutely.

Oh busy bee lauren!! :(

Girls are mean sometimes... Punch them in the face :)

Shannon said...

Oh, I forgot to add...you know the reason why they were so mean to you? Because you're prettier and more stylish than they are. Srsly. Somewhere in their tiny little brains they think, "Hey, if I can make myself feel better than the pretty/stylish/awesome girl, then obviously I am prettier/more stylish/more awesome than she is." It's dumb, but I think we've established that these girls are pretty dumb.

We all heart Lauren!

Um, I strongly dislike those girls. I dont strongly dislike a lot of people (okay, that's a lie...I dislike people more than I like people...lol) BUT I love you! And then stick your tongue out and walk away....lol

Really? I mean really? Wow, I didn't know that amount of immaturity existed past the sixth grade. It's just their loss they won't get the opportunity to get to know how truly awesome you are. Good luck with your classes!

Then Flip your gorgeous long hair and proceed to be the coolest girl in the school! End of story!

Do these people think they are still in high school?

Don't pay any attention to nasty people like that, Lauren.

Petty, petty, petty--brush it off, Lauren.

Are you sure that these girls actually GRADUATED from HIGH SCHOOL? Because it apparently sounds like they mistook one for the other. Hmm maybe someone could, like, I dunno,(yeah those last three words should be read with total snarky abandon) grow up?

Physcokity said...

Or maybe next time you should just respond with, "Well, believe it. Now could you stop talking so I can pay attention?"

Totally inflammatory remarks, but I would love to see their faces if you outwenched them ;) Although I don't particularly know if that's something you're looking to achieve or not.

What class is this anyway if you don't mind my asking? Also I talk a big game, but would never say anything like that to their faces...although I am getting recklessly bolder in my "advanced years"

I'm so sorry. This baffles me seriously. Rad Rachel and I were pondering all night on this horrid event.

That High School stuff NEVER ends...seriously...NEVER. How annoying. If I had been in your spot, I would have gone home to my husband and cried and then thought up of all the witty comebacks I should have said but would never have the guts to say. Girls are lame.

Girls are soo freaking catty!

That is simply ridiculous. Those girls are asking for karma to come and kick them where it hurts. Good for you for being a better person.

Is this post serious? What the heck?

I can't believe these girls. Honestly. Why would they talk about you/seating situation for the rest of the class?

LAME! You are way hotter than that whole situation!

Very lamespice - those people suck! But I had to laugh since it sounds exactly like something that would happen to me (my luck is very very lamespice)!!

Hopefully the rest of the classes will be better :)

Holy crap, what is this, High School? Even then.
Perhaps this will cheer you up.
My first day in college I was signed up for Dance 101. It was in room... like 314 or something. So I get there and check the room and there are all these girls in there looking intense in leotards and leg warmers and things and I'm in my sweats... but it's ok. So the teacher comes in and says they're going to warm up. What the- apparantly this warm up is this super compicated twisty-turny footwork thing that I thought was a joke, so I just stood there and giggled until all the other girls did exactly that- perfectly. Then she made us all get on the floor for these stretches where you lay on your back and put one leg out and one over your head. Yes, over your head- like in the splits! And everyone can do it! She sees that I am struggling getting my leg up to a 90 degree angle so she comes over and pushes it above my head and I cry out in pain out loud and everyone looks at me and then I stood up and asked "is this Dance 101?" And she says "No, this is Advanced Jazz for Freakishly Limber (or something like that." "......Oh." Then everyone busts up laughing as I go get my backpack and limp out of the room. I saw. There were mirrors on every wall. Turns out, there are two PE buildings right next to each other that both have a room 314 in them. As your mother would say, "Foolish."
P.S. sorry I think that was the longest comment in the world.

That is absolutely ridiculous! What class was this because I'd gladly give them something to talk about. For serious. Kids these days...

Made me laugh ONLY because I thought, "If they only KNEW WHO YOU ARE!" Like I do or something, but I don't. Girls are vicious, aren't they. Love the new look--what a great pic of you guys up there!
