a non-2nd hand embarrassing stay in forks...

sigh...i love the pacific ocean.
i also love things that aren't the pacific ocean...
such as sour cream, brownies, flip flops, blankies, and juniper breeze...but that is for another day.

the drive from Portland to Forks, WA was beautiful...but how could it not be?
here is a picture from Ruby Beach...which is a few miles Southeast of Forks...

some of the highlights from the drive was when we quoted really ridiculous quotes from Twilight.
like, "how you likin' the raiiiiin girl?"
or, "say it...out loud."
probably my favorite thing was when we drove passed Queet's River. Um. Hi. the burial ground for the highly fictitious character "Butt Crack Santa" in Twilight the movie...not the book.

anyway. neither of us had ever been to a bed & breakfast before, so we thought it would be fun to try one out. i mean...hi. WHO doesn't like breakfast included with their stay?

the inn keepers at Miller Tree Inn were some of the nicest people we had ever met. srsly.
we were greeted by first name when they opened the door.
they told us which restaurants to stay away from in Forks, and lamented that they didn't have too many good places to choose from. (poor Forks doesn't have Rigatony's. I feel sad for them)
they even introduced us to their resident cat, Tully. (so cute!)

i was totally coveting their hootie owl that guarded the fireplace...

we liked how they had cookies and hot chocolate sitting out for us at all times.
it especially came in handy while we were building a puzzle late into the night. :)

the Miller Tree Inn is the designated "Cullen House" in Forks. the tourists are told to come to the Inn if they want to pretend it's the Cullen's house. it was hilarious watching 12 year olds...and really fangirly grown women take pictures by my license plate. yep...i just watched and laughed.

our room was so cute. they really went out of their way to make things cozy.
they had sparkling cider chilled and waiting for us when we arrived, with a note congratulating us on our anniversary...so sweet.
our favorite touch, was the journal that sat on the nightstand. guests could write an entry about their stay at the inn...and some of the entries made me cry! of course we left a message :)

the Inn had the comfiest bed, and was one of our favorite stays on the trip. we love Miller Tree Inn! If you are ever in Forks...stay there!

of course the next day we spent walking around, laughing and making fun of the fangirls.
a lot of the moms spent way over 100 dollars buying not-so-awesome souvenirs! what the?

of COURSE Pocket Edward had to make an appearance. duhspice!

um. this sign that ted is standing by?
typical Forks.

while we were there they were having a "heat wave"...(try 70 degrees!) so there were no clouds in site. i was kinda sad about it.
but still...it was so very very very green...

and look who i found swinging from the trees...

he was in his element...obviously!

I'm glad the 3 of you had a nice trip! Yeah that was a big heat wave around here... It even got up over the 100 mark over here in Seattle... That's a huge deal to us... everyone loves it when it is like 70 but as soon as it hits 80 people freak out and start looking for the clouds so 100 is crazy... but I love the heat so it was all good in my book!
I will for sure be staying at Miller Tree Inn if I can talk my hubby into going to Forks thanks to your high recommendation! Thanks!!

amybradmartin said...

...oh and wish me luck in talking him into it!

Some day I will take a trip to the West Coast (after you know, I do my dream trip to England) and I'll visit the Pacific Ocean in CA and then head up to Forks. Someday...

Your trip looks like it was soo amazing!! I'm totally jealous. I drove up the CA coast for our honeymoon but after SF we went in to the I-5 so we could get to my gma's for a family reunion. The only 2nd hand embarrassing aspect of this post is the Cougars taking pics of your license plate. They were prob all, "DUDE--IT's ESME!"

M-barrassing.

Love you.
And Ted. And his facial expressions.

Great pictures Lauren, very cute photos. I want to try a Bed and Breakfast!

Heather said...

I love the bed a breakfast place, how cute. What a fun trip! I sometimes wish my sister still lived up in Washington. Then I could go to Forks for cheap. I used to go up there 1 to 2 times a year and that was before Twilight. I wish I would have known about Forks before. I have been to Port Angeles a few times though.

Katie said...

What an adorable B&B. I really love Bed & Breakfasts although strangely I've never stayed in one in the States, only in Europe. Now I want to venture to Forks to the Miller Inn...but maybe I'll wait till I have a husband so I'm not wandering around by my lonesome. ;)

...

Psh, forget that. I'm a "strong independent woman" and I can "take control" and go by myself. (Thanks pep-talk-Bella!) If I have to wait to attract a husband I'll be bored until old age. ;)

The Gibbys said...

Super fun! I too am glad pocket Edward made an appearance, I have missed him so.

Mallory said...

I love your pictures...the minute I saw the picture of your breakfast I knew you stayed at the Miller Tree Inn! I knew I had seen those dishes before. How could you go to forks and not stay there? I stayed there in July when I went to Forks and loved it! Thanks for sharing your amazing photos, beautiful as usual!

True story. I arranged a weekend at a b&b for our 10th anniversary. Since there was not a television in our room matt insisted we drive to wm and buy one so he could catch the news. Yes. I know.

I love the Miller Tree Inn. I stayed there in March and I'm staying there again in December. Did you get a chance to have their orange syrup? I'm so in love with it! Yet again, your blog makes my heart happy :)

neffie said...

I love visiting Forks, it's so beautiful up there. You can only do the "book sites" because after that they're not as much fun, but I there are so many beautiful beaches and hikes and other things to do up there. I concur that the Miller Tree Inn Bed and Breakfast is made of awesome.

You're anniversary trip sounds amazing! Glad you had fun.

Your trip still looks amazing. I never even thought about your license plate. I TOTALLY would have taken a picture by it too - Not even kidding. Oh wait maybe that would have been my mom. . . She's obsessive.

last photo/quote = best.

the place you stayed looked cute, but it does not look like the cullen's house (AMAZING, my favorite part of the movie, btw) at all.

forks looks pretty. i'd go there for that reason alone.
