we ♥ seattle part 1

before i start, i want to apologize.
i am sorry i haven't been commenting on blogs very much...i really am.
im in the last leg of my interior design degree (killer. trust me), and i decided this semester to add an extra certificate to my education. yes my friends...i am now in the fashion design school. between rendering up luscious interiors, and brainstorming/sketching my own clothing line...i am barely finding time to post. again...i apologize and i will try to comment when i can :)

---------------------

so, the real reason for our road trip was to get to seattle. the tedward and i LOVE seattle.
if i could live anywhere, other then the promised land of mesa, az...we would live in seattle.
we love everything about seattle. it's glorious.

we stayed at the most.amazing.hotel.ever.
of course they upgraded us...because the concierge reads my blog....jk. just because we awesome.
our room was on the 34th floor with floor to ceiling windows on the entire wall.
needless to say, we had a breathtaking view...

ted got queasy looking out the window and had to sit down and put his head between his legs.
no lie. i can't make these things up...

the next morning we took a 5 minute walk to Pike Place Market for a quick breakfast of russian pastries. we were supposed to eat at crepe de france, but the people never showed up to open! it was very strange...but sorta awesome at the same time. even though we were pissed.
oh well. russian people know how to make pastries. praise the heavens for that!

after breakfast, we walked right on over to the best attraction in seattle. the "seattle aquarium". dude. i am not kidding. best 35 dollars we ever spent....

they don't have cool aquariums like this in phoenix. nope. people in arizona don't even know oceans exist...it's like an urban legend. so naturally we wouldn't know that sea creatures truly exist. sure enough...they do. trust.me.right.now.
dude...we got to give first-hand snuggly-softings to star fish...

and to anemones (which obviously didn't like it, because they would suck right up and hide. sad)

since we are children (obvi), we joined in the fun with the rest of the toddlers...

poor tedward. he is died.
welp, guess i am safe to auction off his Lord of The Rings tapes now...any takers?

i am not kidding when i say, this is the funniest looking fish i have ever met. yes. MET. look at the goof. and look at the tedward's face. he is so straight up laughing at that hideous fish. why does the fish have dentures? srsly...

hey dad! it's a kiwi bird from new zealand! coolspice.
ted thought i was talking about wanting kiwi for lunch. how foolish.

hey mom! it's a salmon hatchery. mmmm...salmon.
mmmm....food.
mmmm....peeta mellark.
wait, whaaat?

now, for the MAIN reason we went to the aquarium. we HAD to see the famous otters!
i am not kidding when i say i have been talking about seeing the otters for over a year now.
i have been so excited to see them, because...get this...i had never seen one in real life before.
i was SURE that once the otter saw me, we would be instant friends...and sure enough, we are BFForever. awesome.

no, the otter isn't dead....just chillaxin.
but i "otter" check his pulse just in case! Oh Ohhh Ohhhhhh snap! hehehe.
good jokes around heeeeeere.

we went back to the palace...i mean, hotel....and watched way too much Project Runway.
Ok, I watched Project Runway, and the tedward read "hunger games". yes. ted rules.
after a couple hours, we decided we were hungry so we called the concierge to get restaurant recommendations. i highly suggest you all do that when you are staying at a nice hotel. them people KNOW what they are talking about. AND they even call and make reservations for you :)

we arrived at an amazing italian restaurant, just two blocks from our hotel.
it was seriously so swanky. i was in love with the interior...it was...soooo my style.
while ted and i enjoyed the soft bread and olive oil, he listened to me chatter on about the wonderful lighting, perfect wall coverings, and impeccable textiles the restaurant showcased.

we had an appetizer of eggplant parmesan. guuuuuuh.
in love. so good. and so pretty.

the tedward was delighted to see they offered a dish with rabbit in it.
he ate a lot of rabbit when he was in madagascar...so it was like "going home" to eat it.
i was a little apprehensive to try it, since i love me some softy bunnies...
but dude. best tasting thing ever. sorry bunny...you are gonna die.

i of course ordered the gnocchi with a tomato/cream sauce and fresh basil leaves.
one word: amazing.

and here is why i love this interior....

the sleek exposed pipes with the contrast of the gaudy, chandeliers.
the light, airiness of the white curtains that served as room dividers, with the hard edges of plywood tables. the aluminum chairs added the perfect touch of contemporary.
sigh...nothing gets better than glam, with contemporary.

i am soooo not a fan of "hobby lobby"-cookie cutter- interiors.
i am a fan of personal style...and that restaurant was MY style.

stay tuned to see what we did next!

Awww, how awesome!
Only thing I know about Seattle is it's got the big space needle (I think . . . ), Grey's Anatomy (<3) is set there and that's where the newborns were hanging in Eclipse.
And that otter is soooo cute! I love otters.
And bunny pasta? Ick.
I don't think I could ever eat rabbit.
We actually get really weird meat down here; you can buy KANGAROO MEAT in the supermarket! Ick.
Anywho! That restaurant is uber adorable! So chic :)

Um hello Seattle! So fun. I have to agree with you. I am no cookie cutter interior liker. My house is definitely eclectic. Alittle contemporary with a little warmth. Although there are definite things to change( um its 50 years old) and not really mine but... Why spend the money when I know its going to be torn down someday. Although the smurf blue carpet and green and yellow marmoleum floors make me wanna die everytime I walk in the door. Ive decided to never look down again.

I'm trying to convince my BF to go to Seattle early next year but we live in NY so it'd be a hike. What hotel did you stay at and what was the name of the restaurant? We need ideas since we have never been anywhere near the west coast!

Seattle is one of my favorite places, too. Every year my hubby and I make plans to go back, but alas, they always fall through. I'll just have to live vicariously through you! I love all of these vacation posts!

I miss Seattle.

My husband and I had our very first date at Pike Place Market.

If you ever want to see a great Aquarium (the seattle one sucks!) Then head to Vancouver, BC (Canada) it's huge! it's only about 2 hours from Seattle. So if you ever go back, hit it up!

Looks like you had a great time as usual!
The Aquarium in Newport Oregon is even better than the Seattle one. It has see through tunnels you walk through with sharks and fish swimming around for you to see. It's awesome.

What fuuun! I'm so sad that every trip we've planned to go to Seattle hasn't worked out now, it looks so fun. That last restaurant does look beautiful, although I guess I'm "cookie cutter" because I ♥ Hobby Lobby & my decor from there too, oh well.
PS. I'm totally inspired to make eggplant parm. for din-din now, YUM!!

So I went to Seattle about a week after you did and I must agree it is quite the place. I went to the Aquarium too!! Such a fun place. The otters are adorable. We were there while they were eating their clam dinners and it was probably the cutest I have ever seen anything eat. I have pics of my trip on my blog and they do have some really trendy cute restaurants there!! LOVED IT!!

Oh and I have started reading Hunger Games...I'm still in the first few chapters and I'm not totally impressed with Peeta yet but I usually have the same opinions as you with book characters so I'm sure my opinon of him will change soon.
