what's lauren happy about?

i haven't done one of these bad boys in a long time, so figured it was high time if bust one out.
in no particular order..."what's lauren happy about?"...

1. my happy marriage.
we aren't perfect, but we are perfect for each other.
i am also happy that ted is handsome, as opposed to a nice man with a "sweet spirit". ha!

2. ted learning the ways of the awesome gifting.
ted used to suck at giving presents. like...we are talking, gifting me with nothing or at best, a chalupa from taco bell. i am not kidding.
after a bit of training, he beats all men in the gifting department. observe...

for our anniversary, the tedward bought me...

this necklace.
i saw this necklace at an antique shop in seattle. i fell in love instantly with this 1960's gem.
i didn't feel like i could justify the purchase, because it was a little expensive, so i passed it up.
well, on friday (our anniversary) i found it sitting on my pillow.
yes...the tedward snuck and bought it for me.
*swoon*

these hootie owls.
when we were in port angeles, ted found these vintage ceramic owls in an antique store, and of course...scooped them up for me. does he know me well? yes.
(how cute is that little one!?)

he made me a bouquet.
he wanted to get me roses for our anniversary, but the roses were wilted. so instead of being a bum, he purchased a few bouquets and ARRANGED one himself. needless to say i was impressed. and was happy to have them to look at, at work...

bought, and assembled this nightstand
we have needed a nightstand for a year. i kept putting it off because i couldn't find "the right one". well, last week, while looking through the ikea catalogue, i found one i liked. i told him about it, in passing. well, i came home to find it all assembled and looking dapper.
the boy listens. and makes trip to ikea alone. amazing.

spent foreverz in sephora with me, to pick this out...
and dude..."viva la juicy" by juicy couture is to.die.for.
srsly. it is worth the arm and the leg ted gave up for it.

this vintage hootie cookie jar
how cute is this little sleepy hootie? yep, ted knew i would love it.

3. our freakin awesome halloween decor is up!
i am obsessed with halloween decorations. i still have more to come, but here is a sampling!

skulls, candy corn, pumpkins...oh my!

thanks colleen for the amazing fabric pumpkin! soooo chic.
and LOVING the spooky spider on the candelabra..

4. anniversary dinner at the landmark on my parent's tab!
thanks mama and dadda face! they gave us a $50 gift certificate to the lovely Landmark Restaurant for our anniversary. if you live in the valley, you must try! the salad room is amazing, and the entrees are so delicious!

and, after trying dozens of bread puddings from everywhere, we are positive Landmark's is the best. srsly...it is killer.

ted thought i looked like a fish...so he made a hook.

5. this picture...slays me.
i love how this picture turned out. those three are going to make many bones.
i ♥ my friends.

and now, for the happiest moment of 2009....

6. after a year of marriage, my wedding dress still fits!
mmmkay, so you know how they say once you get married you gain an automatic like 10 pounds? well...i have never been one to be a statistic. i worked my butt off this entire year by working out at least 3-4 times a week, pilates and eating healthily.

and judgement day came...and ted zipped me up...

and tada! i stuck it to the man!
srsly...never been so proud ever.
ok. i lie. i was pretty proud when Logan Neitzel tweeted me...but whatev.

what are you happy about today?

Too cute.

Okay, that pic of your friends with the frames, is totally going to be an album cover one day.

I am happy about

1) Lula giving me the low-down on Catching Fire and Hunger Games last night, throwing me over the edge on wanting to read it immediately, and

2) the second episode of Gossip Girl last night, and Chuck's slim blue suit and pinky ring combo (hawt), and finally

3) The New York Magazine Gossip Girl Reality Recap:

http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2009/09/gossip_girls_heart_of_darkness.html

which everyone, if they are a GG fan, should read because it is downright brillz.

Yeah, I highly doubt I'll be able to fit into my wedding dress in a year because I was in a size zero... yeah, so much for that... I'll guess I'll find out in a year or so.

As for what I'm happy about, I am so happy I married the right guy. James spoils me like none other, even if I don't necessarily deserve it. :)

tharker said...

I tried my wedding dress on last year (after 12 years of marriage) and it a.l.m.o.s.t. fit...does that count?

I'm happy that some sweet friends invited our family over for dinner tonight. Good company + pregnant me not having to cook = one happy lady!

Suzi Q said...

I loved this post. I love the owl obsession. I like crabs myself. I have crab salt and pepper shakers....but I think I'm saving them til my kid(s) are grown up, I don't want them broken. SO I was one of the peeps that put on not 10 but 20 lbs. It was 10 lbs a year :) but after having my baby I'm down 61 lbs....2 lbs less than I was on our wedding day! I saw this and HAD to try on my dress...I did a few months ago, but was still nursing a lot, so the girls wouldn't zip. I'm happy to say I got it all the way on this morning!!!

PRP said...

Those are great things indeed to be happy about. There is nothing better than a husband who pays attention to the little things and hooks a girl up.

Oh, and I'm happy that I'm subbing at the high school today which basically means hours and hours of free time for me to browse the internet and read. It's divine!

Jenny said...

Love this post!

I decided that I am going to start collecting owls! I got my first one from Kirkland's over the weekend!

So happy you can fit in your wedding gown! I doubt I will be able to fit in mine a year later! I am just hoping I fit in it 2 months from now... The Wedding!

Loving those owls :) Ted is a great gifter!
Right now autumn is making me happy :) It's my first chance to experience the actual season as opposed to simply waking up one day to realize that the 100 degree weather has been replaced by freezing temperatures :D

Ann Marie said...

First of all.. congrats on the dress..

2nd.. Ted is the Man!
I Love my Chad.. but he just gives me cash usually.. :) he's not so good in the gift department.

That owl necklace is DARLING!
I love that it is sooo unique!
I saw a cute owl in a shop the other day.. and I almost bought it for you.. I worried tho that you might have it already.. I guess if I find one.. and you have it already.. you can give it to mama face right??

I'm happy I'm taking my cute stuff to consignment today!

Nikki said...

I'm happy to know that men (I stress the word men) like Ted actually still exist.

And I'm oh so happy for the new Neko Case, The Swell Season and Pete Yorn I heard on KCRW on my way to work this morning. Makes the 101 a little less intolerable.

Happy belated anniversary, lovely lady!

I am happy for Halloween decor too! Even though mine isn't up yet cuz it's still in storage out in Utah (um, did someone say time to go shopping?) I love Halloween, which is weird because I hate all things scary- I refuse to go to haunted houses or watch horror films, but I love dressing up and I love throwing our annual Halloween party! SO excited about that.

Congrats- on fitting into your dress- that's awesome- I wonder if after six years of marriage- I still fit into mine? hmmm, probably not now that baby #2 is on the way, but I am happy to say that except for pregnancy, I have been able to stay within 5 lbs of my wedding day weight:).

Also, your blog makes me happy!!
btw- if you ever find yourself back east somewhere, please let me know so I can hire you to take some family pics!! You're awesome!!

Thanks for reminding us that we all have something to be happy about today!

I'm loving that photo of your friends. Gorgeous!

I'm happy that my sick kids do NOT have swine flu. It's going around their classes at school, but my kiddos are already home with nasty colds. They may not be feeling so hot right now, but at least they're not being exposed to worse! Plus, it gives me the motivation to DEEP CLEAN this house - get rid of those germs!!!

1. my husband needs gifting lessons from tedward. heck, I need gifting lessons from tedward. I've never been too good in that department.

2. those hootie owls are awesome. I really like owls but you have the cutest collection going!

3. I REALLY need to try the Landmark. Heard great things, and we just live right down the street, so I'm thinking we just need to do it!

4. Sadly, I was a "statistic." Got hitched, put on a few porky pounds. But then I got preggo, got sicko, and lost 20! huzzah!! oh wait, you're NOT supposed to lose weight when pregnant? Dang! any other time it would have been awesome!!!

5. You are uh-dorable. your dress looks amazing on you still!! Your waist is sooo tiny!

Erica & Albert said...

Oh, and I'M happy about the fact that the baby is moving like crazy! And that the hubbs got a really cool opportunity to have a calling at the temple! I can feel the blessings already :)

Connie said...

I LOVE the owls! Way to fit in your dress! I fit into mine... isn't hard since I was a fatty when I got married. Depressingly enough though the boob area is the only insanely baggy part. Sad day. Speaking of which, you should do a bridal session of me! I never got any taken and I've always regretted it! I'd pay you for your troubles, of course. So before I get it professionally cleaned and put in a box foreverz, I want to get them done. (no I haven't gotten it cleaned since, and it's been three years..shaddup!) ha ha

What am I happy about today? Well, I WAS happy, but a little less now after reading about your dress! Good grief, I have been the same weight for years and years, but I was a size 0 when I got married and these durned hips and chesties keep expanding and I am now a size 10/12. But I'm not fat! Ha- it was a total joke when I tried it on and the zipper ends were like 9 inches away from each other. Yeah, that was after1 year. Eak! I can't even IMAGINE what it would be like now! ....Maybe I should post this anonymously! :) Anyway, the point is, good for you and I hope you enjoy that wonderful blessing! Lovies!
