the characters are much older looking in my head, than 16 year olds.
also, peeta is hot beyond belief (just how Edward is hot beyond belief in my brain, when reading twilight *cough*paulwesley*cough*).
however, i have found two actors i really like...

Ok, so I won't lie, I'm not a huge Emma fan, sorry friend.I think Camille Bell would be awesome, she gives more tomboy/girlie girl favor. I could see her hunting or in the perfect mockingjay dress. However, alex seems like a great peeta. I think Gabe needs to be a dark haired strapping guy, the opposite of peeta...maybe your boy paul weasly??

I've never really thought about actual people when I picture these characters. They've always just had a look of their own. They're very similar to the actors that you picture, though.

Hm, well when I initially read I try not to picture any actors. The characters will always be indescribably my own. Perfect. Hot. Strong. Whatever I think they should be.
Then when I start thinking about actors (which I always inevitably do) all I can hope is to get close.
I really like the guy you've proposed for Peeta although I've never seen him. I'm not convinced about Emma as Katniss though. I'm going to think on this. My Katniss is no one in Hollywood but I'll see who's close...

never thought of emma as katniss. I think I imagined Katniss to be more plain in my head. But she would be a good choice.

As for the characters... Emma Roberts would be good-- but I pictured someone a little tougher, a little more rough around the edges. But Alex Pettyfer? A VERY nice Peeta. :)

Hi, this is the first time I've commented here but when I read you did a post on The Hunger Games just had to! They are actually making this into a movie, the last I read a few months ago it was optioned (though people have said how they would adapt this into a movie would be difficult because much of what's good about the book is that you can read Katniss's thoughts).
I kind of imagined Peeta to be...more large and boyish for some reason. I'd be really curious to see who they end up getting for Katniss. For Gale I imagine someone like Taylor Kitsch from Friday Night Lights :)

I think Camilla Belle or the Aussie actor Phoebe Tonkin for Katniss, I am not a very big Emma fan. I kind of picture Katniss with darkish skin. As for Alex Pettyfer as Peeta-I'm all for that!!
I can really only picture Katniss as the girl on the cover of my copy of The Hunger Games. (I dont know if you know what I am talking about)
But personally, I dont exactly want The Hunger Games to become a movie.

Alex Pettyfer is pretty much burned into my brain as Jace from The Mortal Instruments. Lauren, you NEED to read these books. I have such a clear picture of what Peeta looks like, but I can't find a real life match.
I think Katniss is going to have to be an unknown. I picture her like a triathlete or something. An amazing, strong, yet totally vulnerable, athlete.

She supposedly lives in what used to be Appalachia. Part of the Cherokee tribe lives near Appalachia. A Native American background is a definite possibility considering her description. Good call, Emily!
For an example here's a Cherokee actress and model. I'm not saying she's Katniss, but she has the right skin, eyes, and hair color. She really looks nothing like my book head Katniss.

so maybe this has been discussed...but I just found out that Lionsgate bought the rights to Hunger Games for a screen adaptation. {squeal!} So you might be picking your actual cast...whoa. And also....The host is being made into a film too. {die} Now I know I should probably feel sick of film studios trying to make a fortune on big budget film adaptations, but srsly....I can dig it! anyhoots....just wanted to see if I am the last to know this or just passin along some off the hizzle news :)

No, no no. I think you have Katniss all wrong. I imagine someone with dark hair. Like someone from India. Biracial maybe? Caucasian/India? Just so she can have a tan because she is always outdoors so much and it would seem natural to her. Secondly, she says that she doesn't look a thing like her sister and mother, who are blonde. She says that she has dark dark hair. I can't see an certain actress in my head. Maybe a Cherokee? It is hard to know! Alex is perfect though! I really like him. But blonder. It's too bad he will always be Jace Wayland of City of Bones. It is weird because both those actors were in Wild Child and TMI fans both think that they should be Jace and Clary.

If camilla or what ever her name is gets chosen for Katniss, then the whole movie would be ruined.! She is nothing like what I imagined Katniss to be. Alex Pettyfer would be a great peeta but he's much older now so yeah... What about Drew Roy as Gale? I had a dream after I finished Mockingjay and he was in it as Gale. It was a little weird but when I look at him, he's kind of what I imaged Gale to look like. I think he would make an awesome Gale but it all depends if tries out for the role...
