mmkay, so here is the deal...
i promised myself i wouldn't be like everyone else and write a review of "New Moon". Seems so cliche, right? but here i am...writing my feelings. i.can't.help.it.
this post will be spoilery, so see the movie first and then join in the convo...because we MUST discuss! srsly...we MUST.
1. i have suuuuuch a girl crush on kristen.
she was magnificent. i have seen many complaints that she was terrible, just because she didn't cry. i thought that was what was so convincing about her role! i have been there...when you hurt so bad, and it encompasses all of your thoughts, you just sorta become catatonic. tears aren't necessary. i thought her interpretation of Bella was so amazing. i.love.her
2. jasper...i know how you feel.
do you see that look on jasper's face? i made that look 500 times yesterday as i battled serious nausea (that i still have now). dude...i get you.
PS...the wig still sickens me.
3. this part slayed me, for some reason...
so classic Bella...accepting a present from Jacob, but not Edward. it was harder watching it on screen than reading it! seeing Edward looking on! Guuuuh.
PS...is it just me, or does Edward look waaaay tall here? mmmkay.
4. us girls had serious jealousy issues over esme...
look at her dress! and her gorgeousness! and jasper's awkwardness.
awesome.
5. while i can appreciate this hottness in the pouring rain...
i am not among the girls that have started changing "teams". hottness? yes. love the tat? yes.
is he 17 in real life? VERY yes.
6. YES! YEEEEESSSS! he ruled.
this dude TOTES knew what he was doing. he.was.perfect.
and hideous. awesome.
"come to me my pretties!"...oh, wrong movie? my bad.
7. oh golly gee wiz...kristen being beautiful again.
she.is.BELLA. love her.
8. was this in the movie?
because i feel cheated that it wasn't.
9. the chemistry between bella/jacob was amazing.
the most perfect BFF friendship with the perfect amount of tension.
*cough*...team edward...*cough*
10. heaven help me...the only 2nd hand embarrassing part in the movie...
do they expect me to believe that 1. Alice would ever pick out a dress for Bella to wear that looks like that? and 2. that Bella would ever come within 20 feet of that dress? and 3. that Edward would be attracted to someone in that dress? mmkay...my work is done.
12. did anyone else notice that Bella and Carlisle were a little close?
i mean, in this scene they totally were able to feel each other's breath on their faces because they were THAT.CLOSE. I kinda went Team Carlisle at that moment. Maybe THAT'S why Carlisle made Edward go outside...dun dun duuuun! :)
*no i have not read a fanfic where Bella and Carlisle have a secret relationship and run away to Europe together.*

again, i feel cheated. also...Rob totally wears smaller jeans than me.

Rachelle is the perfect Victoria. Guh! I bow to her amazingness and hotness.
15. heaven help me...
i lied...this was the mother of 2nd hand embarrassements. i don't understand the people that said this part was beautiful? they look like dead fish...and Edward is already dead! lauren does not approve. i think i checked my phone during that part. i thought when they had this scene in the trailer that it was just for kicks and giggles...you know...a jokespice. guess not.
16. perfect. scars.
whoever applied emily's scars rules me life. awwwesome.
17. and finally...i am soooo fiercely Team Edward.
i cannot begin to tell you how team edward i am. i don't care if some under-aged guy has ginormous muscles that encompass his entire body...and block his breathing passage. i don't care if movie edward's abs are inferior to movie jacob's. because i am sooooooo team edward. him and his pasty, lanky, awkward self.
guuuh. thud. kapow.
i loved new moon. it was 500 billion times better than twilight. it was embarrassing. it didn't make me want to pretend i wasn't a twi-fan. chris weitz gets us...he knows what we want. he knew how to deliever the beautiful story and make us ache right along with Bella. i.love.him for it.
i will be seeing it again tonight! and i think my friend katie will be too, check out this text i just received from her: "hey girl. just wanted to tell you i'll miss being friends with you...but i am dead now from New Moon. it was so freakin fantastic, it slayed me."
and with that. i can die happy.
go see new moon!
PS..please love the last sentence of the movie. i am still swooning.

My absolute favorite part was the last lines!! It was the best ending that could have possibly been there =D

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who felt that the Carlisle/Bella moment was a bit too intimate.
I love Jacob but have always believed she'd be with Edward. I still want Jacob to be MY BFF ... I totally have Bella envy.
Taylor SOLD his part ... I was nervous, but they were GREAT together ... chemistry was very natural!

any whosit! I.AM.DIED.... I have to agree that I was for a moment Team Carlisle... but over all, I am tots Team Edward. Robward looked amazing as did KStew. I am not usualy a KStew fan but I think that she did an amazing job. And as for the tears.. I agree. sometimes the tears just don't come.

I haven't seen it, don't know if I will, but I wanted to give you a big hug, Lauren. I've been loving Kristen all this time and everybody hates her! And I don't know why because she's a GOOD actress. I was so happy when you said you love her. I feel like I have validation now. I can tell people, "See! Lauren likes her!!"
Poor girl is getting torn to shred these days and she did nothing to deserve it except maybe make out with Rob, but can you blame her? Love her!

They changed some things from the previews, but, it was great. I must say, Emmett cracks me up-awesome character! The ending-UGH! Not cool.

I love the ending to. It was surprising, but totally awesome. New Moon was so amazing. I can't believe. From the moment you saw the giant moon to sudden end... I was stuck.

Mid-movie I was WAAAAAY Team Jacob, because he is The Hot. And then I was totes Team Wolfpack. Then, Edward came back and put his shirt back on and he was back to being The Hot and they were in Bella's room and it was back to Team Edward for me.
But I'm still kind of Team Jacob because Jacob Lautner is the perfect Jacob. He owns it. But apparently he doesn't own a shirt, and I'm cool with that.

Chris Weitz is a genius. Kristen's and Taylor's performances carried the movie; Rob was amazing (but I didn't mind him being gone, because I wanted to ache like Bella ached. And I did). The humans were perfect. Oh, and Charlie. They nailed it. How do we secure Chris Weitz for Breaking Dawn?!

I have to say I had very low expectations of this movie, I didn't think I would like it because it would be too much of a big budget movie and a lot of times I think those look fake and overdone, but
OH MY GOODNESS. Not New Moon. Chris W. is a serious movie genius. I love him, I love the movie, I love the actors.
I was also really worried about Kristen and Taylors acting skills-but they Showed Up! SO amazing!
I also thought the volturi would be too freaky for me, but they were dead on. (ha literally-dead.)
And I hated the underwater scene too! My friend thought it was the best part and I was slightly disgusted by her. It was too wierd for me- as well as Alice's future scene. They looked like 5 year olds.
So obviously- I had some low expectations but it was amazing.
Now if only I could find someone to go with me to see it again :)
Oh and I was thinking the SAME thing about Carlisle and Bella- she was litterally grabbing onto his side at one point and I got slightly uncomfortable.

Ok...so. I was up at 6:00 am this morning getting ready for work. I didn't go to sleep until 3:00 am this morning. TOTALLY WORTH IT!
1) I totally get the girl crush on Kristen Stewart, she is gorgeous as Bella, but the real Kristen?
Yu-uck. I loved looking at her in the movie, she was mesmerizing. She is gorgeous. But, I seriously think she needs to work on that scream. I kinda laughed. Maybe it's just her voice.
2) I love Jasper, excellent casting. He is funny, and witty, and I love him. But I thought that maybe with the budget being a little "bigger," they would have spent a little more money on better looking wigs. Just sayin.
10)Seriously, what the random baby blue dress?? It is not cute. And I kinda pictured that Bella would be much more "beautiful" as a vampire. I dunno.
11)I love the Volturi. Perfect casting. I heart them.
15)Did that not look like a cardboard cut-out of Edward? Because I totally thought it was. Like, someone accidentally dropped it in the water. And after Jacob pulled Bella out of the water, and it cut back to Victoria, when she sank into the water, I started LAUGHING, like out loud! She had like shifty eyes, LOL!

OMG... I didn't even like Edward in the book... I thought he was such a huge jerk! But honestly, RPattz's performance killed it for me! He was SO GOOD, and I never thought I'd say that! Finally, I understood how hard it was for him! And Jacob was amazing, and Bella was amazing (although I really think she should've cried--isn't that like a character trait of Bella's, that she cries easily?) and Alice was amazing (I didn't even like the actress in the first movie), and Charlie was amazing and Carlisle was amazing (I totally went Team Carlisle for a moment, too).
However, I had ridiculous adventures involving almost getting beaten up by a 300 lb hick woman and almost punching some loudly hyperventilating girls... You can read about it here: It'll be a relief not to want to kill you.

I have never been more 2nd hand embarassed then when they were frolicking ridiculously. The entire movie laughed in that "no they didn't" way. Awful.
But everything else? So much perfection. I can't get over Kristen Stewart. She absolutely just won me over. I went from thinking she was the worst ever to having a girl crush as well. She was gorgeous. And I agree, I'm glad she didn't cry. I could feel the pain the way she portrayed it.
I need to stop with the lengthy comments.
Oh! One more thing. I was totally smug and pleased because when I heard "Possibility" on the soundtrack I immediately proclaimed that it would play either when Edward left her or in the months montage if it existed. And it played in the montage. I felt smart. :) Such a good song for that part, though. Heartbreaking.

Kristen was really good in this movie. She did have a few moments that I thought were pretty cringe-worthy, but overall she rocked it. Taylor was AWESOME. Who knew he could act?

I agree that New Moon was sooooooooo much better than Twilight. I won't comment on everything you wrote except to say I'm sitting here laughing about the "Masquerade" comment. Very true.
I loved Edward in the book, not so much in the movies. I loved the interaction between Alice and Jacob.

i live in utah. which means, i couldn't get midnight tickets - which BLOWS because i got midnight tickets for twilight and it was so fun. i am seeing it tonight with girlfriends, and maybe tomorrow night too if it's as good as you say it is! i seriously can't wait.

I was wondering if anyone else felt like most of the songs (not the instrumentals)pulled them out of the story a little bit? I love the soundtrack, but they just didn't flow as well in the movie? there were a couple that I did like in place, but over all I didn't like the flow.
My theater laughed out loud during the prancing bella/edward scene came on.
Ok, now that I got that off my chest.....I TOTALLY LOVED NEW MOON!!!!! It was soooo amazing and I felt like they did a great job at getting all the things I loved from the book into the movie.
for the record... I am and always will be TEAM EDWARD!!!!!but I Taylor did an amazing job as Jacob, he was beautiful on screen and he was vulnerable and sweet! I was very impressed with his maturity.

1. yes! i really thought that her performance in new moon was actually MORE credible than in twilight. I was shocked actually.
2. I still couldn't get that suggestion of his hair looks like a cheap woman's wig. It was pretty gross, worse than the first film.

15. yeah i thought that this was the epitome of awkward goth/emo moments of the movie, like trying to explain how romeo and juliet committing suicide was a true expression of love.
Oddly I didn't tear up where I expected to. I actually felt for Jacob, not that I'm switching sides or anything, but bravo and well done to the director, he effectively conveyed SM's whole view and point of Jacob in the second novel.
2- I agree about the wig. However my future hubby (Kellan) looks scrumptious in this shot... ;)
10- That was the only thing in the entire movie that I was like oh em gee kill me now I can't believe I'm seeing this, lol. Totally right about Alice too. There is no flipping way she would allow that dress to even exist at their house let alone let someone actually wear it.
14- Exactly! So sad she won't be back for Eclipse. Boo Summit... bad choice guys.
Altogether I agree- SOO much better than Twilight. It totally pwns Twilight, leaving it crying in the corner, begging for it's life.
I am not a twilight fan...and you just made me feel like i should go see it...NOW! lol!

I had HIGH hopes with the new director.. and I didn't feel it was any more AMAZING than twilight.

GAH! I'm so happy you posted this! THis is how I FEEL! All of my friends were like swooning for Jacob all movie long! Then, BAM! Edward's back and I was screaming! And all my friends still thought Bella was dumb because Jacob is hotter than Edward. Not true, the last line PROVES that Edward is sooooooo much better than Jacob! YES! Everything about this post screams YES!

CW did not disappoint...waaaay better than Cougar Cathy. I loved that he was pretty true to the book.
I loved the "months" and Bella's lack of tears. I've known pain like that - the kind that hurts every part of your body and no matter what you do you can't cry because you are totally numb - and KStew NAILED it! I didn't much care for her before but I totally love KStew now. Not to mention I am just a tad bit jealous that she gets to hug and kiss Robert Pattinson. :)
Taylor was excellent as Jacob...the rain scene! OMG! But...
...he can never be Edward. No one can. Even though I would have liked more Edward...it was perfect.

just remember Alice's visions are subjective. when the time comes they can totally choose a different frolicking dress for Bella :) (although I must say i would totally love to wear that dress) loved New Moon. I could have totally watched it right over. much less cringing than the first. i.love.edward!

but i really did like bella in this movie. and i never liked her before.
i want to see it again too. right now.
Can I just say I am SO BUGGED by the people "switching teams" now that Jacob is the hottness I always said he was? Friggin' posers. I've been Team Jacob from the beginning so step off wannabes.

My least fave part was the floating in the water...before Edward was upsidedown. Eww.
Thanks for pointing out those missing stills. Where did they go? They had better be on the DVD, which I can't wait for! Add to that, isn't Alice supposed to say, "You're a human, who knows entirely too much." What happened to that?

I really loved New Moon, I thought it was amazing. I think Taylor Lautner did an excellent job as Jacob, but that doesnt mean I'll switch to Team Jacob, oh no, I am and always will be Team Edward 100%

Have not stopped swooning over the last line. I'm pretty sure I just sat there with this big surprised smile on my face for five minutes. AND I knew it was coming. I agree with everything, especially the embarassing random running in an icky dress. love your reviews. :)
