thrift store chic...

i received three vintage dresses in the mail from etsy this week.
and i went thrifting with my thrifting-partner-in-crime, sierra, yesterday.
let me show you the loot....

1. vintage dress that is super-see-through.

we had to play around with different types of lighting so you couldn't see my unmentionables.
don't worry...i will buy a full-slip before the church peeps see this little number.

2. vintage dress that i wore to the temple last night...

my brother ty told me he liked this dress, which is major compliment because he hates everything in life. just kidding. (BTW...like my bruise? i have like 7 of those on my body right now. i am a klutz.)

3. thrifted skirt that i am obsessed with.

i am in love with houndstooth. it is so stellar.

4. thrifted skirt with the cutest pockets everrrrr.

this may be my favorite skirt of all time. and it was only 3 bones!

5. vintage dress that ted is in love with.

ted may have done a butt-grab when i wore this. oh ted...

6. thrifted outfit that i feel happy in...

love the vintage skirt, and the bisou bisou cropped jacket. sigh...i heart the thrift stores.

which one is your favorite?

I can't decide my favorite item, meeehhh... I have four words for you: long life to houndstooth! I just bought a scarf with that pattern last week and I'm still swooning over it. (Well, it's not really a scarf. It's thinner. I can't remember the word. Shame on me.)

I love #5. I wasn't "seeing" it before, just off the hanger. But now I get it. And love it. The belt is a great touch. You look like you have so much fun with fashion and being a girl. I need to get on this bandwagon someday. But I should probably master the art of "wanting" to at least cook/bake first. lol

Yay! I missed you! I love them ALL! Love the houndstooth skirt. I am totally copying your life by the way. I just bought a dress on etsy this weekend (it was waaay to expensive, but I HAD to have it). I am jealous that Ted appreciates your good taste. MY husband, on the other hand, looked at the adorable dress I was buying and said, "that much for a USED dress? It's not even NEW!? And it looks kinda...old fashioned. Its out of style." Uh...yeah...you ever heard of VINTAGE? Sigh.

Number 2 and 4 for sure! My Grandma saved this beautiful vintage dress from the 40s for me, and I tried it on a couple months ago.... way too small. BUMMER! It reminded me of your second dress.
....so I know we've already kind of done this with the whole being-invited-to-read-laurensbite-but-it-was-actually-deleted thing.... but if it's not deleted would you mind inviting me? If it's still deleted I'll stop asking now. "srsly."

I recently pulled a couple more people into the Twilight madness (aka made them read the books and now are obsessed, too), and they'd never seen your site.

Marianne said...

I love the Hound's Tooth skirt and the blue dotted dress with the yellow belt...genius!

The trouble I have with thrift store clothes is that I am old enough to remember most of them and how they went out of style. But when you find something from recent years and still looks trendy and you jazz it up with your personal flair you win everytime!

Welcome back by the way! I thought you'd be gone longer. Happy to see you again!

Amanda said...

What thrift stores do you go to?! I usually go to Goodwill and DI but never find anything that cute! I love the #6 the floweryskirt is super cute!

I love the navy skirt with cutest pockets everrrrrrr. I also adore the red coat. They'd be cute together also.

Houndstooth is a favorite of mine as well. Have you had to take different textile classes for your interior design program? I'm in a textile class right now and houndstooth is not only a favorite because it's cute, but also because it's easily recognized! There's no way I could get it wrong on a test. :)

Hi BBL! Thank you for this post... makes me want to go out and buy some pretty dresses myself. I love your blog and have also been following your twitter. I'm sorry you've been having so many problems with haters. But just so you know, you are an inspiration to me and I hope that you will continue to blog (and enjoy it). I actually have no idea how I found your blog in the first place, but I've been reading it for about a year now.

I'm 27 years old, single, and not LDS... which maybe makes it a little weird that I'm such a fan. But I love that you have a happy life, and honest-to-goodness, reading your blog inspires me to get off my butt and experience things... like reading, cooking, shopping, dates, decorating, etc. So anyways, just know that for every hater out there, there are WAY more fans. Keep it up, and have a happy life :)
