lovely things.

my mom is a wonderful seamstress.
and, well...i am not.
she gave me her old sewing machine and made me my own sewing kit.
my goal for the new year, is to learn how to sew a bit better.

i have been wanting to make a photo collage on one of our walls for a while.
i never did it in the old apartment, but finally got my act together and started one at our new abode.
we have been adding many polaroids with the camera ted bought me for christmas!

i forgot to use my parent's scanner when i was over earlier, so here are pictures of the pictures.
these are some of my favorites.

i have been deathly ill. actually...whenever i am sick (which is often) i am deathly ill.
i didn't realize that one of the perscriptions the doctor gave me was for cough SYRUP. um, heck to the no. when ted told me to take my dose today, i told him i would...but i didn't.
there is NO WAY i am putting my mouth anywhere near that cherry flavored putrescence.
i can't say ted was too pleased with my decision.

so i drank his homemade citrus tea, instead.

UPDATED to add..

ted wouldn't take anymore of my whining, so he forced me to drink the horrendous cherry crap.
here is the series of events that led to my near death....

the stare down.

goin' in for the kill...with the nose pluggage as my only defense...

and...
DESTROYED.

the funny part, i'm not posing for these pictures at all. just true, raw BBL.

and that is how i almost died. i better sleep well tonight.

hope you all are having a lovely day!

I know cough syrup is gross but it REALLY helps. You should bite the bullet and do it, you'll feel so much better. :)

Or ignore me and just drink the yummy tea. <3

I love the wall...when I was growing up (middleschool/highschool) I had a photo wall in my room. I just found all the pictures while I've been home and each of them still brings back great memories for me. I hope that your wall brings the same to you as you build it and later when you reflect on it.

Stephen tries to make me take cough syrup too! I then resort to acting like a 3 year old and refusing. It's good times.

I mentioned you in my new blog btw.

I hope you feel better soon.

The only thing worse than coughing is cough syrup! When bedtime comes around if you don't have tablets you'll just have to plug your nose, take it like a shot, and then drink a big glass of OJ to wash away the remains of the sicknast flavor.

Oh I didn't know you were sick! Poo! get better so we can head to lunch and stuff sometime..

I love the collage wall- yay I took some of those!

I got a sewing machine for Christmas too that I must learn to use!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who still refuses cough syrup! And I so wish I could sew!

Klin said...

Ok so you say Ted wanted you to take your cough syrup and my first thought was Mrs Cravitz on the Bewitched TV series.

Citrus tea is much yummier than cherry cough syrup that tastes nasty. I can't take nyquil cause I would hurl across the room.

Good to see your sweetness on here.

Ugghh Cough Syrup is the worse.

I intensely dislike (Mama said I shouldn't hate...)Cough syrup...totes makes me gag. However, if I am really sick and desire to sleep I will chug that sick-nast cherry grossness RIGHT out of the bottle!

P.S. I too am trying to learn to sew we must trade tips!

Feel better soon!

Emily Sue said...

OH.MY.HECK. i know exactly how you feel! i have the worst cold...bleh! so, i was forced to take liquid nasty. ew ew ew!

Mormishmom said...

I was sick a few weeks ago and my DH forced me to drink nasty knock you out cough syrup and I almost died of vomitness. Bleh. I'd rather be miserable.

I must be the only person on the face of this earth that can take cough syrup like a champ. It doesn't bother me in the slightest. When I'm sick, I practically skip to the medicine chest, because I know the syrup will allow me 8-12 hours of blissful sleep. My husband has issues taking it as well. It makes me laugh so hard to watch this manly man cower at the sight of NyQuil, or something like it :p

Hope you are well soooooooon.

Have a wonderful New Year with your Tedward.

I'm so sorry you're sickly... thats the pits. BUT at least you can sit at home and stare at your gorgeous collage on the wall!

I can't sew so I look forward to seeing your projects!

I get deathly ill too. Yuck. And cough syrup? THE WORST. I look like that too. Eww Eww Eww. Feel better dear!

Jordans Jaunt said...

Um I hate cough suryp. It has to be one of the worst things ever invented. If it was me taking that nasty Shiz you would have one more picture of me gagging in the kitchen sink. I almost throw up every time with out fail.

Jenny said...

Loving the photo wall!!!

Cough syrup is nastyyyyyyyy!!!! But it makes you fell so much better!

Hope you and Ted have a Happy New Year!!!!

pook555 said...

Cough syrup = disgusting! But hopefully it will make you feel better!!

Plus, you know what is worse? Alka-seltzer cold medicine that you have to drink. When I was sick a while ago, the husband (who swears by it) made me take it. And it made me want to hurl. And did not make me feel better at all! So avoid it at all costs!!

Feel better :)

P.S. I just sent you a request to join your Twitter feed under "cattydiva" but it did not let me specify that I am nice and not crazy (which I am - nice that is, not crazy).

Shannon said...

When I had to take medicine as a child I would always pretend I was in Mary Poppins and say "Um Rum-Punch" it was only a few years ago I realize what Rum-Punch really was...don't want any of that!

ChloƩ said...

ha, i didn't even know cough syrup still exsisted.. yucky! i just take the nyquil pills...

Katie said...

Nasty, I hate that type of medicine too! I feel for you. Your faces are priceless though! Nyquil is a whole lot better in my opinion.

I love the picture wall you are making! So cute!

I think cough syrup is one of the worst things in the history of all time!!!

Heather said...

Sorry you are not feeling well! I hope you get better!

I think sewing more things is a great goal. I look forward to seeing what you will make.

Ann Marie said...

Yay for your new years goal!

It sounds like we are twins in the sickness department.. :(

Mercy said...

Haha I actually love the taste of cherry cough syrup. Hence, my mom refuses to buy it in fear that I'll overdose and die.

Crystal said...

Haha. I'm glad you drank it. :) I bet you feel a bit better today!

Amanda said...

Dimetap (sp?) is the WORST. It's not even worth trying to take as it induces nausea. Points for making the effort on your part, though! Hope you feel better

Heffalump said...

I think it's funny that you have those pics of you detesting the cough syrup under the blog post title lovely things...
I hope you feel better soon!

I despise cough syrup. It is the worst stuff EVER created.

I hope to take up some sewing too. I'd love to make some skirts and stuff on my own... and where this housewife-y stuff that has hit me came from this year is beyond me. Lol.

Dear BBL,

Happy New Year and I'm sorry to hear that you are not feeling well, maybe my recommendation will make you feel better. Every year for Christmas- my mother in law manages to find the new IT book for me. Last year it was Hunger Games- which we all now how awesome that was. This year was even better- the new book was titled Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. Maybe you've already heard of it, maybe not...but I finished it in two days (while completely neglecting my toddler and husband- oops) and I have to tell you IT WAS THE BEST!!!! I hold it up there with Twilight for sure- umm HI can you say mysterious, hottness, frightening, can't put it down book. and now I'm dying to talk to someone about it. Curl up with it while you are feeling sick. It will make your day!

I'm laughing so hard. Funny stuff. I really thought I was one of the only ones who HATED cough syrup, I always feel like a wimp. I have a cold right now and last night took some liquid nyquil and was gagging over the kitchen sink and looked up to see my kids staring at me with BIG eyes. I guess I can't get after them for hating on medicine now.

Valley Girl said...

Yay, commenting is back!

I don't do the cough syrup thing either... it is aweful stuff...

Jeremy, (my man) loves it... yes he is weird!

wende said...

just wait until you have to gag it down the throat of a toddler. not fun. our routine, which might be helpful to you next time, is quick chug, swallow, chug sprite, then pop in the already unwrapped piece of minty gum to drown out the taste. then drink more sprite.

good luck, and feel better!
