reasons why today was awesome.

today was the happiest day of the year, thus far.

we woke up to a beautiful overcast day. overcast days are my favorite days.
it was chilly, and the wind was blowing, and it was so lovely.

ted and i worked out together, until we were panting and our muscles ached.
after, we got ready for the day and went shopping for a new addition to our family.
we went to the cutest little specialty bird store, and i was able to pick out my very own baby cockatiel for an early birthday present. i named him "gizmo" and he is soooo precious. we are excited to bring him home on thursday afternoon. his new cage and toys we bought him are sitting, waiting patiently for him in his own little space of "casa de busy bee". SQUEE!

to the pet store i wore my favorite purple tights, along with my fake Uggs, and my recently thrifted green skirt. this outfit was super comfy to wear, and ted said it was "cute".

i made us a healthy, balanced brunch.
it included a whole wheat pita loaf, broken into quarters, then toasted with a roma tomato slice and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese. while toasting it in the oven, i scrambled up some eggs. once they were all done, i pulled out the toasting pitas, and added a bit of sliced avocado. wash it down with a glass of skim milk, and dude...best brunch ever.

my lovely best friend, Lindsay, and her darling baby Navy modeled my new headbands for the Busy Bee Shoppe! I am really excited about these headbands. A lot of time and creativity went into them, and I hope you all like them.

a few of you have wondered where i get my names for the headbands. they are all named after special women in my life. so, if you think it is named after you, it probably is. these women have helped me become a better, more creative, and stronger person. i love them all.

this time in the shoppe, i am offering baby headbands.
there will be many more styles to come, including the ever popular "sophie" headband.

hope you all had a lovely MLK day!
and, have fun shopping in the BBL shoppe!
xo

I thought you were going to say you got a puppy, and I was going to cry out of happiness.
But a bird is good too. Why do you have to wait until Thursday?

oh my gosh! i cannot get over the awesomeness that is that necklace! the first thing i thought of was how most people get gross, tacky tattoos with their names. but that necklace is adorable!

love the new headbands, too! i don't feel complete with only one.. i need to resist the urge to buy more & become broke..

I woke up this morning to overcast too, then it rained. Phil says its never rained in January here before. Then, it snowed with the biggest and most beautiful snow flakes ever. Of course it never lasts, but ever since you posted about the Andes Mints Cocoa, I couldnt stop wanting it. Sadly, still havent tried it. But im about to prepare myself a cup of cocoa with toffee in it. haha, we will see if thats good! Love your headbands, when I get money, I will buy one. PROMISE! Love!

Overcast days are my favorite too...Ok so I used to have a cockatiel named Hamlet and I was obsessed with him lol Birds are the coolest! But what I wanted to add is that he flew out my window! Like within the split second that I opened it...so make sure you get his wings clipped about every 3 months :/ That brunch looks amazing and I bet it was nice and filling!

Yay for Gizmo! Male cockatiels can talk if you work with them. Awesome right? I taught mine to say "Give me kisses," "You're pretty," and after a while he picked up "Come here!" I guess that one was from me always telling him to come here.

They also looooove the steam from the shower! I used to take Cheeky in the shower with me and perch him on the shampoo rack, where he would sing and whistle and preen himself. It was the cutest thing!

Awww man...now I'm missing him!

You will love your little Gizmo! Congrats!

Lauren, I absolutely adore your headbands! Try as I might, I've never been able to pull off that look. Would you consider making combs or barrettes? I would DEFINITELY purchase some of these designs on a barrette!

Can't wait to see pictures of the new birdie. :) Gizmo seems to be a popular pet name lately... but it's totally cute, so I understand why!

Overcast days are my favorite too. I was so happy this morning when it went from snowing to raining...but now it's blue skies and that kind of makes me sad.
P.S. I was catching up on your blog and you aren't the only one with a flat screen. We have a sweet old fat T.V. too...and it was free.

Lauren said...

LOVE the headbands, particularly the Allison and Elise, but I had to tell you....

I was watching television today, and although you live on the opposite side of the country, I wish you would be here with me this Saturday because Vampire Diaries cast (including Paul Wesley's abs) will be TWO HOURS from me in Atlanta visiting people!!!

Oh well. Love your little vest, too :)

I like these headbands the best! And if you like overcast days, you should come to Notre Dame. We forget what the sun looks like.

Lauren said...

I really like the allison and baby allison!

You wern't lying about the time and creativity--those headbands are exquisite!

You are so great with coming up with adorable concepts, so you probably don't need any ideas, but once I saw some baby headbands that were made using nylons as the headband part. They were soft and streachy...perfect for little developing heads. Maybe an idea for your new "baby" line???

Glad you had a great day, thanks for sharing it with us!
