show and tell...

this is the time of year that i restock my closet with new denim jeans, and some new shoes.
you see, i get monies for christmas, and then 6 weeks later i get monies for my buuurfday.
so, on top of my neato new kicks, i also went thrifting yesterday and gathered some awesomeness. it is now time for BBL show and tell.

my three favorite pairs of shoes. all purchased the day after christmas.
i think everyone should have a pair of Vans slip-ons.
I also think everyone should own a pair of cute flats.
i have an insane amount of flats, since ted is my same height. we rule.

this dress looked like a piece of crap when i first beheld it at Goodwill.
with a little imagination i quickly fell in love.
i added a velvet shrug, some black boots and topped my crown with the "lindsay" headband.
ted loves this rockin' little dress. i also think it would be cute with tights and flats.
4 dollars for a dress? yes.

when i first laid eyes on this capelet, i HAD to have it because it reminded me of Blair Waldorf.

i paired the capelet with a vintage black lace dress and my new purple boots.
these boots rock. i originally wanted red boots, but the purple ones were more daring, so i yoinked them right off the shelf. the pop of color makes the outfit more fun.

i have been wanting a military jacket ever since i fell in love with the "sergeant pepper" beatles album. they play up any casual outfit. i finally found the perfect one, that is a fitted-cropped version, which is perfect for wearing over a slouchy shirt.

by the way, i got that slouchy sequined top at Goodwill. loooove it.

and that my friends, was a BBL show and tell.
Do you have anything to show and tell?

oh my gosh. those shoes are adorable and i want them.
i love flats and i have a pair of slip ons that are plaid and i got them at target. i call them my "cute shoes." i couldn't wear them for the longest time because they gave me terrible blisters. finally i sucked it up this fall and they fit with no problems and i love them. now i want a pair of those vans slip ons in the worst way!! size 11 please =D
those outfits are amazing, thanks for sharing <3

I am completely jealous of your military jacket!! And I totally almost bought some purple suede boots a couple weeks ago. But alas, they would get ruined in the crappy Wisconsin weather.

GREAT stuff! I thinks it's awesome that you prove that you can look so good and Modest. As a mother of daughters it's something I defintely believe in. Oh, and GW is 1 of my fav. places! Great deals, (ie: my black shiny flats I got tonight $2, and, last week, my daughter's heart rainboots $3) Can't go wrong! I agree wholeheartedly about the flats, according to one of my friends, I have a 'problem.' You can't have too many, they work so well with a great pair of jeans!

Trina said...

Lauren you should be a model. For real. I like that you take such joy in little things because it is refreshing and real. Who isn't thrilled when they get a new dress? I sure am. I just dont come off as photographic, so I enjoy this post showing off your stuff!

My show and tell would be the snow we have gotten this week. It's not much, but I live in Tennessee, so to us it was like a blizzard. Pic if you like: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2269195&id=38402878&saved#/photo.php?pid=38427901&id=38402878

I am great at vintage things thrifting, but no good at clothes-thrifting. I wish you lived in my same city so you could show me how it's done. Cause you, my friend, are like the Empress of Clothes-Thrifting, hereby shortened to ECT. You could add it to your name like a doctorate or CPA. "Lauren BusyBee, ECT"

um want want want that dress.

Very creative you are! (channeling my inner Yoda I guess!) Seriously great finds! It would be fun to have your readers guess how much all of your thrifting ventures cost! Real store value versus what you actually paid.

pook555 said...

I love your taste in clothes and especially shoes (I have a shoe addiction)!! I really think I'm going to have to go back and buy those red plaid ones (if they are still there). And I'm pretty sure I have those black boots of yours (they look pretty similar and I love them obviously). You are a shopping goddess, and like the other comments, can I go shopping with you?? :)

So I'm sitting here editing pictures of my next post--which is all about how I'm a flat whOOr. And by "flat," I mean shoes. Not the in the chest region.

That is one of the prettiest green dresses I have ever seen. Hummm, yes, I know what I am talking about... I've been searching for the perfect green dress for about two years! And that capelet really is very Blair-ish. Yes, Blair just popped in my mind when I saw the first picture. And that black lace dress is so pretty too! I have been loving it in so many of your pictures!
