din din time in the casa de busy bee...

ted and i love eating din din together...
we joke, we laugh, we enjoy good food, we catch up on each other's day.

we have a goal to eat dinner as a family each night...no matter how crazy things get.

because family dinners are the best!

they are especially the best when you watch "Playstation Store: Previews"...
and when ted says, "Clive Owen is a sexy man."
and when I say, "who do you think would win in an arm wrestling match. Zac Efron or Sterling Knight?" and ted responds with: "Zac...he has more neck meat."

do you love family din din? what's the funniest convo you have had over dinner?
I would tell you mine, but someone might shank me. and this is a shank-free zone.
HOLLA.

We eat together w/ the kids amost 90% of the time. We thought that was the norm cuz we both grew up to that too. Untill we met some people who barely eat together as a family. They would buy food for themselves an just feed their kids from their plates when ever they ran by the table.

I'm going to sound like one of those frozen dinner commercials or something, but family dinners are key I think. And yours look like they might be the most fun ever.

But neck meat? That makes me feel a little nauseated for some reason.

my family has discussed if there are such things as wild cows or not.... we finally ended up calling my grandpa, (a rancher) and he didn't even know. We still argue over it at times. Oh.... and then there was the time with squirls being extinct or not... and then... wait, I'm going to stop now. We have weird conversations. (including which one of us is going to heck for listening to 'bad' music... ya, we're super nice!)

From the time I was very small (maybe six or seven) we didn't have family dinners together. My parents didn't even cook for us. It was always, "find whatever you can to eat." So when I got married it became a rule that we ate together every night except the night Hubs had band practice at church. For the past nine years we've done it. And it makes our family awesome.

Discussions:
*Whether or not my eggplant parmesean was really eggplant parmesean or a lasagna in disguise
*Whether or not we should name the chipmunk who lives in our flowerbed
*(Courtesy of M) why dogs wag their tails from side to side and not up and down
*If Mr. T and Chuck Norris got in a fight, who would win

Those are just from the last few nights.

Oh, how I love family dinners. There have been way too many good stories that they all kind of run into each other. Dinners with my parents are always filled with randomness. They usually start off with me spouting out random facts and my parents making fun of me for said facts.

Aw! A chipmunk in a flower bed?! Cutest thing ever...

I love that you two make time for each other in every way but especially to sit down to dinner together. So cute. I live alone so...I enjoy my solo dinners. :)

Our dinner convo goes more like this:

Who would win in a fight, Harry Potter or Yoda?

My son: Hm...I think Harry because he knows magic.
Husband: Yes, but does he have THE FORCE? I don't think so. I say Yoda.
Son: Harry
Husband: Yoda
Son: Whatever. What's for dessert?

family dinner is the best. Birthday dinners are fun too.

1. from my nephew to hubby: i know there is a black spiderman and a red one, but do they have a green one, because I like green. This started a 2hr conversation between a 5yr old and a 29yr old.

2. My sister to my newphews: you need to eat some food before we have cake, which he replied, I love cake, how about I eat some cake and then eat all my dinner. At which time, my younger nephew who is 2 1/2 sticks his veggies in his water cup.

3. After moving to our new house: Uncle tom says, hey do you have any salt for this soup, to which I reply, if you can find it let me know, because I can't find my keys which are in the box with the salt. ( we found them later that night)

My favorite dinner topics are when we have to make up a story about the food we are eating so that the kids will try it. Like we no longer have "stew" it is now "cowboy gruel" and "Lasagna" is "Pizza slop" Sounds gross to me too, but after you make up a story to go with it, your kids will try just about anything.

Funniest thing that happened to me during dinner: one of my brothers was trying to convince me that a balloon will pop if you put it over an open flame. I scoffed and took a HUGE gulp of water, right as he put the balloon over it. Literally 3 seconds later, the balloon popped, and I went "AAAHHHAHAHAHAHAHA!", which, unfortunately caused me to spit water out and all the way across the table.
Good times!

I remember the newlywed days when we used to eat on the couch and watch TV. Now with all the kids if we did that we would have the worst mess ever. We do family dinners every night too, and it is one of the things that makes a close nit family.

We cherish our family dinners too!
~ Even though much of the talk is either about burps.. poop and/or farting. I wish I could blame it all on the kids.. but Chad and I are just as bad.. ;)

Yay for Shank-free zones.
When I wrote that adn reread it, i say "skank-free" zones. I think you should initiate that too!

Dinner with kids is like a circus sometimes, but very entertaining and I'm so glad we make sure to do it! Some of my favorite memories from when I was a kid were of me and my brother laughing our heads off at the dinner table!

Love this.

Vito & I between school and work always make sure to sit down to dinner together even if it is at 10pm at night. It's pretty much my favorite part of the day.
