the lobster that is red.

so, have you ever heard of Red Lobster?
of course you have. everyone in the entire planet called "earth" has heard of the place.
ever eaten there? we hadn't either.
dude. how many times a year do they have this blessed "lobster fest"?
well, enough times for ted and i to say, "that's it. the commercials have finally gotten to me, after 20+ years. let's go to the place."

Photobucket

we were greeted at the door with the restaurant's pets. and by pets i mean, groceries.

since neither one of us had ever been to red lobster, we decided to do something fun that my friend kate had suggested.
she suggested that we each order for each other. it was really fun narrowing down items that i knew ted would love, and ones that he would hate. i even ordered him the correct drink. (dr. pepper with a splash of root beer...just in case you cared).

Photobucket

each of us were allowed to name one thing we didn't feel like eating.
while i LOVE scallops, i wasn't feelin' them that night.
ted loves pretty much anything, so he suggested for me to be adventurous with his meal.

Photobucket

i ordered him crab legs (because i knew he loved crab...and partly because i had never had crab legs, and i wanted to taste them). and i also got him coconut shrimp. he LOVES shrimp more than anyone in the world, and he had never had the coconut kind.

Photobucket

ted ordered me the perfect thing. i can't begin to tell you how well this man knows me. since i am on a diet, ted ordered me grilled salmon, steamed brocolli and mashed potatoes. dude. duuuuuude. that is talent. especially considering that the place doesn't really offer much that isn't deep fried, bathed in butter or swimming in gravy. mad props to my man.

Photobucket

also, mad props to ted picking out this outfit because he knew i would love it.

Photobucket

and mad props to BOTH of us for each picking out argyle without the other knowing we were wearing argyle. we rule. obviously.

Photobucket

red lobster is good. but mostly, i would say it is AIGHT.
but the date was fab!
do you like red lobster? if you could suggest a restaurant for tedauren to experience/review next, what would it be?

so excited!

I have been a super busy bee, lately!
Hmm...perhaps I should make a pink cape with "BBL" on the back? SUPER BUSY BEE!
What? You no likey? Meh, whatev.
Anyway, as I was saying, I have been really busy creating new designs for my shoppe!

So, as a lot of you know, when I am fan of something, I am a biiiiiiig fan.
This seems to happen a lot after I read a book that I love.
I dunno, it's just something about reading that makes you become really close to a character.
You imagine the character your own way, you imagine their voice. It's just very personal.
I LOVE reading. If I could sit around reading all day, I would.
I even forget to eat when I am reading an excellent book.

With that being said, it was only natural for me to base my next headband line on fictional heroes!
I gathered my FAVORITE books together and did a lot of research on my favy characters.
Yes, RESEARCH.
It took a long time to really figure out what fabrics, textures and colors I wanted to use.
Some of the designs are interpreted literally, and the connection will be more obvious, while others are very figurative. Needless to say, I put my heart into this line.

Here are some of the books I am basing my headbands on:

Photobucket

Photobucket

There are even more books and tv shows I used in creating this line, but you will just have to wait until my next post, to see!
So in celebration of my new line, let's discuss who YOUR favorite Fictional Hero is!
ready, set...GO!

compy is dead.

my new compy has died on me.
while i am trying to get it fixed, and holding onto what's left of my sanity,
please read my favorite post i have ever written.
it is located in my "LINGO" section, up top. but i will give it to you here:

Here at Busy Bee Lauren I like to use special words and phrases. You see, I excel at spelling, and I happen to have exceptional grammar. In fact, I was thinking about major in English Writing, but then I realized how much I hate writing papers, and dissecting poems by crazy poets. As I was saying, I know how to construct a sentence, but that's boring! So I like to use an insane amount of slang and made-up words on my blog for maximum awesomeness. I try to reach a slang-quota for each post, actually. So here is a guide if you get lost:

Srsly - I use this when I want to put emphasis on the word "seriously". When I type it, I almost always say it aloud as well. It also is accompanied with a sideways nod to the side and a half-eye roll. It's pretty much legit.

Legit - Used when I am talking about something awesome. For example: "Zac Efron is legit." or "Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt is legit dot com." It is to reinforce how awesome I think things are.

Lamespice - This is used when referring to something that is so beyond lame that it needs a "spice" added to it. Lamespice can be used as an expression, for example: "I have cramps today. Not even chocolate can cure it. Ugh! Lamespice!" Or it can be used to describe something, such as: "Cafe Rio is lamespice, but Costa Vida is bomb. Obvi!"

Obvi - This is a good word. I love saying it because it is so ridiculous. You see, "obvi" is just a shortened word for "obviously"...obvi! BUT the funny thing is, saying "obvi" is about the same work as saying "obviously" so it doesn't really serve a purpose. It just makes everyone feel cool to say...obvi! See? It's fun. And stupid.

Totes - When I say "totes" I am NOT referring to a cute Juicy Couture tote bag. I am in fact referring to something totally awesome. For example: "I TOTES just ordered a Juicy bag online!" The awesomespice word "totes" makes some people mad. I think those people need to be given a hug. No one should get mad at people for TOTES using awesome words. Here TOTES is a hug for you, angry person! (((hugs)))

Sicknast - This word is so beautiful that is a ironic. You see, "sicknast" completely encompasses how much I despise certain things. Should I use Cafe Rio as an example again? I think so. Example: "Cafe Rio's salads are soooo sicknast!" You see? Awesome. Combining the words "sick" and "nasty" for the birth of the mega word: "sicknast" is one of the most holy word marriages in the fake english language. You can all thank me for this.

Tedward - This is the unwanted and ultra-hated nickname that I bestowed about my loving husband, Ted. You see, I felt that Ted possessed the awesomespice qualities of my beloved Edward Cullen...so I birthed another mega word: Tedward. Genius right? Yes. Want to know what else is genius? The fact that I called him Tedward on my blog for over a year before he found out. Awesome.

The Efron - I love me some Zac Efron. No one loves him more than Busy Bee Lauren. He will always be referred to as "The Efron". Yes. By the way...Tedward knows of my deep love for The Efron. In fact, he is totes okay with it as long as he can love "The Efron's" super hot girlfriend, "V-Hugs" as Tedward named her.

SK - It's only natural for me to love Zac Efron's best friend, right? Well, I do. I love me some Sterling Knight. In fact, as of 02/15/2010, he totes became my favoritest celebrity crush ever. It was by fate that I was randomly perusing the Disney Channel whilst being bored at my mom's house on my day off of work. It was as if the universe WANTED me to see him in that Disney Channel Original Movie, "Starstruck", that was neither exceptional nor amazing, but contained hottspiceness, nonetheless. After viewing said movie, I was hooked. "SK" aka, "Sterling Knight", will show up many a time on this blog. Deal with it. PS...he is 21, and not 12. You have dyslexia and need to get that checked out ASAP.

CDC - "CDC" is an abbreviation for "Chad Dylan Cooper" which is the character that Sterling Knight plays in "Sonny With a Chance"....possibly the greatest comedy sitcom on the televisioness. Chad is equally hilarious as he is handsome. He is also ridiculously cocky, jerky and conceited. All of these faults somehow are his strengths, because they win over the hearts of many-a-ladies. Chad Dylan Cooper is basically the bomb diggity bombspice, which is one of the highest honors you can be decorated with on Busy Bee Lauren.

demi is dating joe say whhhhat?

i read me some celebrity gossip news, daily.
i really do. sometimes i even wake up early in the mornings to read it whilst taking a bath.
it's totes true. i prop my lappy compy up on this little towel stand we have, and i run a bubble bath and i catch up on which celebrities have overdosed, who had a wardrobe malfunction and who is dating who that particular day.
well...this morning i was surprised to find that Demi Lovato confirmed she was dating Joe Jonas.
now, in normal circumstances i would be like, "meh..whatever. he will break up with her the same way he broke up with taylor swift and then demi will write some sad, yet catchy song about it, resulting furthermore, into a hit song."
BUT this time i was a little more effected.
HELLO, her leading man is STERLING KNIGHT.
he is the hottness. and the bomb diggity bombspice. and cries when watching the notebook.
joe jonas? has big eye brows, breaks up with girls via text message, and wears girls pants.
i'm just sayin'...

so, let's vote.
who is hotter?
this is on looks and overall swagger and awesomeness.

and PS and BTW...Joe is 20 and Sterling is 21...so everyone can vote without feeling weird.
unless you are a guy. you can still feel weird.

3.12.2010

mmmkay...

ok people, this is how it's gonna be...

it has come to my attention that the entire world isn't as versed in sarcasm and the technique of exaggeration, as i am. i guess i should have known by now that my usage of sarcasm was a rare gift. i mean, i always knew i possessed it, hence me not "hiding it under a bushel" but rather, showcasing it to the world. but, what saddens me is that there are so many that don't have the special "eye" that enables humans to read sarcasm, and the "sarcspice-brain" that enables said humans to laugh, and make merry with such glorious wit that comes with sarcasm. poor souls.

for instance, who knew that by me saying:

a. "it must be my overall awesomeness and swagger..." would lead people to think that i TRULY believe i have an exceptional amount of swagger floating around my aura creating sparkly goodness and fluffy pink hearts dancing about? who knew that by me stating that i have "awesomeness" that it would lead people to believe that i TRULY believe i am SO awesome that i could use my awesomeness to benefit my personal needs, such as cutting to the front of the line at Costa Vida...or telling people I am awesome, so they should gift me with endless amounts of Juicy Couture and other sparkly things? i mean, really? really, people?

b. "i rule" HELLO. if you read my blog, my twitter, my facebook statuses or have EVER spoken at least 20 sentences to me, you will know i say "i rule" a whole heckuva who-ha lot. NO, i don't mean that i "rule" the planet...that is ridiculous...everyone knows that 1. Obama rules the humans. and 2. Simba rules the animals. annnnnnd 3. Cockroaches rule everything that isn't human or animal. DUH. so who does Busy Bee Lauren rule? 1. this blog. 2. my apartment 3. my own life. If you have a problem with me saying "i rule"...then you do not rule. because if you did "rule" you would understand that you too could rule. and if you ruled, then you would understand the terms of "ruling" things, and then you wouldn't feel the need to cry about me ruling things. we good? Good. we rule. (well...most of you).

since this tragedy has effected so many of you, and therefore leading you to leave me rather foolish comments, i felt the need to prescribe you with Busy Bee Lauren's Sarcasm Prescription of Awesomeness.

1. use "i rule" at LEAST 3 times, daily.
2. say "check out my swagger...isn't it particularly swagguh-licious today?" at least once to someone that will either laugh and agree, or to yourself in the mirror, leading you to laugh at yourself. it's good for the soul.
3. watch a little Chad Dylan Cooper on "Sonny with a Chance". If you didn't appreciate sarcasm before, you will after a dose of that.

after that, please then come back to my blog and realize that:

1. almost EVERYTHING on this blog is lighthearted.
2. i exaggerate most sentences so that you will LAUGH. so please answer me this, "whyyyy soooo seeeerious?" Laugh. I dare you.
3. i don't take myself seriously, so you shouldn't either.
4. i am not in love with myself. i am IN LOVE with ted. do i love who i am? yes. and that's how it should be.

and even after ALL of that, i know that someone still won't "get it". and instead of making a better use of their time they will still continue to read the blog to leave me foolish, lamespice comments. so with that being said, i will throw you a bone. i will now be labeling my posts at the bottom with one of the following:

a. "this post contains sarcasm, it's ok to laugh, calm down."
b. "this post was serious, don't think i am poking fun at something, calm down."
c. "this post is a fashion post, i am not in love with myself, calm down."

i hope this all helps.
over and out.

PS and BTW...this post contained heavy sarcasm. calm down.

sugar.

Miss Siovhan, you have won the BBL "Pinkspice" headband!
Please email me, darlin'!

do you all remember the "sugar" pick up line?
well, i did. so i thought i'd try it out with tedward, yesterday...

"hey ted..."

"i think you dropped your name tag." *wink*

he wasn't amused.

3.09.2010

happiness and polka dots.

The winner of the cuuuute crochet hat is Crystal Annie!
Crystal, please email me at busybeelaurenblog "at" gmail "dot" com!
Thanks to all that played :)

remember how i got a ticket for having a cracked windshield, and i wanted to shank somebody?
well, today i went to court and proved to the silly court that i, in fact, fixed my stupid dad-gum windshield. i have to tell you...it was quite nerve wracking to be in court. "City of Chandler vs. Lauren" and all that crap. I mean, really? anyway, i went in and the judge told me my outfit was cute. awesome, right? yep. awesome. want to know what else is awesome? when she gave me instructions, i responded with "aight". I am NOT making this up. who am i? dude. i can't decide if i should be embarrassed or pat myself on the back for my overall awesomeness and swagger.

funny story: ted knew i was really scared about the whole "standing up in court thing" by myself, so when the judge asked me come up to the stand, ted went, "um. can i go up there with her? she is scared." my feelings were a mix between mortified, and touched. the judge's response? ".....*crickets chirp*.....no....."

genius.

what i am trying to say is, i love my tedward. basically.

so you want to see my "court outfit"?
aight... :)

green pumps: Nine West (Nordstrom Rack on saaaaaale)
(tallest shoes i have ever worn...it felt strange)

top: Free People (Nordstrom Rack - 4 dollars)
skinny tie: Express (yoinked from ted)
polka dot skirt: Nordstrom Rack on sale

goal: to get women to believe me that wearing a tie is awesome.

i loooooove polka dots.
and color. obvi!

3.07.2010

700th post of awesome.

oh hai...
this is my 700th post. yes, my seven-hundredth.
so pretty much i rule. or i have been blogging for a long time. i will go with both. holla!

so i was trying to come up with something awesomespice i could do for this event...
and since i was supposed to do a giveaway when i hit 1,000 followers...
i am doing another busy bee headband giveaway! boring? sorry.
i did try to make it interesting and giveaway a new design! woot woot. holler at your girl!

since i was lazy and forgot to ask one of my lovely bffs to model my headbands, you are just gonna have to settle for me. sorry. deal with it.

this is "pinkspice"
did you just see that action? yep...i went there. i added some "spice" to that.
i am thinking that "pinkspice" is the love child between pink and my blog. so pretty much it rules.

it rules so much that i am giving "pinkspice" away.
everyone can do with a little more pinkspice in there life, right? riiiiight?

very similar to the "pinkspice", here is "noir".
i think noir speaks for itself. i like it. but whatev.

this here headband is a serious labor of love.
the design idea came to me whilst taking a shower (where my best ideas are birthed).
the idea is that of a modern version of a crown.
i think women should show their femininity, and with this headband you can do so uniquely.

this is "olivia"
ted and i plan on naming one of our future daughters olivia, and so when i saw this lovely headband, i thought the name fit with it perfectly.
high quality jewels, gems and awesomeness carefully secured individually onto the band. i'm obsessed.

my sweet bloggy friend, Marci had her birthday yesterday!
in honor of her and her awesomeness, here is the "marci"!

the "marci" is part pretty and part rock and roll.
hence, me wearing it with a leather jacket...(which i forgot i owned...until yesterday)

and yes, that is me wearing a tie...
i like it. get over it.

this is my favorite headband ever.
this is "blair"
yes. it was named after the gorgeous and fashion-inspiring, blair waldorf.

it's cool because it can be worn dressed down, or with a fancy shmancy dress!
i love the soft details of the satin rosettes, and the hard "rock candy" look of the stones.
it's definitely a statement piece, for sure.

this headband is called "sonny".
yes, it's because i am sooooooooo in love with the show "sonny with a chance" lately.
and hello, the premiere for season 2 is this coming sunday! i had to do something to celebrate!

i love the sparkly red bow, with the simple black band.
so comfy, and so happy, and sooooo fab

all of these headbands will be up in the shoppe, tomorrow!

so, to enter the Busy Bee headband giveaway, all you have to do is:
tell me how you found my blog!

you have until wednesday, march 10th at 7:00 PM, to enter!
