countdown to hunger games: week 7 of 16

Marci is one of my very favorite blogging friends of all time. In fact, we have plans to see Hunger Games together on opening night, despite the fact that she lives across the country. We will make it happen! I am sooooo excited to share Marci's awesomespice guest post with you today! Hooray!

Hunger Games-inspired outfit: Girl on Fire

I want to preface this by saying I am not a fashion blogger. I read them daily, and try to look put-together every time I leave the house, but when Lauren gave me the opportunity to be a part of her Hunger Games Countdown, I knew I wanted to try something new.

My inspiration for this outfit was what Cinna might design for Katniss if he did "casual daywear."
I've had this top for a while, and the colors remind me of burning embers. The ridiculous frills on the neckline and the way they stick out of the coat remind me of something the citizens of The Capitol would rave over it. It's January and this top is actually sleeveless so I threw on the peacoat before I left the house (and yes I added the Mockingjay pin--hope you don't find it too cheesy!)

The shoes weren't something I picked out originally, but I paired them with this outfit as a tribute to Cinna and his gold eyeliner. Because what's life without whimsy?

Isn't Marci's outfit so awesome!? Fashionable AND Hunger Games-ish. If you had to dress with a Hunger Games theme, what would you wear?
